As a multidimensional artist, musician, DJ, and producer, Julion’s journey spans diverse realms—from his early days jamming punk, noise, and jazz in North Carolina, as a percussionist for Afro-Cuban dance classes in Detroit and now running his own imprint Maybee Hill Music. Julion’s mission is focused on the freedom of Black expression through sound and movement. Creating expressive, meandering house and disjointed jazz for esteemed labels such as Sound Signature, Freedom School and soon on Mother Tongue Records. Behind the turntables, Julion represents a new generation of DJs, blending the wisdom of their predecessors with contemporary sensibilities.
