“There is depth and joy in the journey.” That’s how Mary Robinson, beloved climate elder and first woman president of Ireland, describes Climate Wayfinding. It’s also how the first two weeks of our book tour have felt: deep and joyful.
From Chattahoochee Hills, GA, to Washington, DC. From Seattle to San Francisco to Boston. Events have been full of laughter and some tears too. We’re hearing similar echoes everywhere, as readers meet this new book: “I’ve never felt more lost” … “I am totally reimagining my climate work” … “My team is struggling, and I want to lift them up” … “This is the book we need now.”

If the state of the planet we call home has you feeling battered and bruised, know that you are not alone. Our emotions about the climate crisis can leave us frozen or frittering; or, as Audre Lorde put it, we can embrace them as “our most genuine paths to knowledge.” In the third chapter of Climate Wayfinding, we undertake to consciously examine and follow our emotions toward meaningful, sustained climate engagement.
