When facing a planetary crisis, as with a personal one, it’s best not to go it alone. As @wangari_maathai says, deep partnership is necessary to turn the tide toward planetary healing, and that turning begins at the local level. In the sixth chapter of Climate Wayfinding, we tune into our greatest power and resilience—the communities that transform us from “me” into “we.” Flock with us next week in Asheville @malapropsbookstore with author and Climate Wayfinding facilitator, @mallorymcduff1 . In the Climate Wayfinding audiobook, @drkwilkinson brings the essays, poems, interviews, and meditations to life in her own voice. Download the audiobook at our link in bio, or anywhere you listen to your books. 💛

If you have arrived at the threshold of Climate Wayfinding, it’s likely you’re holding a question that goes something like, what can I do? Our planet needs scientists and policy wonks and activists in the streets, yes—and, it needs carers and farmers and singers to bring on a different kind of weather. It needs, in short, you, and your unique talents, gifts, and superpowers. In the fifth chapter of Climate Wayfinding, authentic power and deep joy illuminate the work that will guide us through the road ahead. We’ll be on the road out west next week, and it would bring us deep joy to meet you there. Learn more and register at link in bio.

You may be hearing a story about inevitability—about a struggle that is already lost, or one last hail mary that might just get us out of this muddle. This is not that story. This is a story about an overflowing toolbox of solutions, and of all of our immensely capable hands taking them up. This, as @ValerieCourtois says, is a love story. Discern which solutions and accelerators are calling you in the fourth chapter of Climate Wayfinding.  And, if you’re in Atlanta, be a part of our special hometown book launch story on May 4 @carterlibrary39 . I fell in love with the @bellmuseum last night! 🦋💛🦣 Y’all had me at @alyssabaguss & collaborators’ conversation swing with 20 questions for falling in love with the planet. (Brilliant! Gorgeous!) And then a climate exhibition that begins with @climatementalhealth ’s Climate Emotions Wheel + love letters to Earth?? *Swoon* I can’t wait to return for a longer visit & more time with @kateknuth @globalecoguy @projectdrawdown @mcknightfdn the amazing @bellmuseum team & so many good eggs in the Twin Cities.

“There is depth and joy in the journey.” That’s how Mary Robinson, beloved climate elder and first woman president of Ireland, describes Climate Wayfinding. It’s also how the first two weeks of our book tour have felt: deep and joyful. From Chattahoochee Hills, GA, to Washington, DC. From Seattle to San Francisco to Boston. Events have been full of laughter and some tears too. We’re hearing similar echoes everywhere, as readers meet this new book: “I’ve never felt more lost” … “I am totally reimagining my climate work” … “My team is struggling, and I want to lift them up” … “This is the book we need now.” We’ll be on the road for another three weeks—including in the wilds of the internet—and would love to see you. Check out link in bio to join us in your city!

If the state of the planet we call home has you feeling battered and bruised, know that you are not alone. Our emotions about the climate crisis can leave us frozen or frittering; or, as Audre Lorde put it, we can embrace them as “our most genuine paths to knowledge.” In the third chapter of Climate Wayfinding, we undertake to consciously examine and follow our emotions toward meaningful, sustained climate engagement.  And, if you’re in Atlanta, be a part of our special hometown book launch story on May 4 @carterlibrary39 .
