💜 This year, Taproot Earth, brought frontline leaders, artists, culture bearers, movement organizers and faith-based communities together across multiple powerful convenings, representing communities in over 40 countries around the world. We gathered with power, joy, healing, and shared vision.
🫂 Each convening reminded us of what’s possible when we come together: bold solutions grow, relationships deepen, and global climate reparations become more real.
🌎 As we get ready for Giving Tuesday, we’re celebrating what we’re building together, and gearing up for all that’s ahead. Stay tuned for how you can support the work and root with us.

🌱 Global climate reparations is how we get to climate justice 🌱
Spaces like the UNFCCC — which should be the preeminent public space for communities to address the crisis — are being overrun by fossil and financial interests. #COP29 has shown us that those who have perpetrated this crisis will find ways to escape accountability for the devastating impacts of their actions on a planetary scale.
❌This injustice cannot continue❌
Now is the time to demand a deep and radical transformation of the relationships and power dynamics at the heart of these global negotiations. 🗣️📣💥
Now is the time for #globalclimatereparations, as called for by the frontlines at the Global Climate Reparations Governance Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya. 🌱🌍❤️

📣 We’re excited to invite you to a national webinar on May 5 at 4 PM ET, co-hosted by Taproot Earth and the Hotel & Gaming Trades Council (HTC), in partnership with USCAN, Labor Network for Sustainability, and Just Transition Alliance!
As @climateweeknyc approaches, we’re deepening solidarity between the climate justice and labor movements. With the NYC hotel workers’ union contract set to expire this summer, this moment offers a powerful opportunity to align our values and actions.
This session is designed for decision-makers and operations leads at climate organizations participating in NYC Climate Week. We’ll explore how to show up in solidarity and support workers in their fight for a fair contract.

How can we equitably address climate migration?
Climate migration is the forced or voluntary movement of people due to environmental changes driven by climate change.
It is an urgent justice issue.
Colette shares how @taprootearth is addressing Climate Migration.
I had the honor of hearing Colette Pichon Battle, Esq. speak at @bioneers conference 2026. Colette is an award-winning lawyer, climate justice organizer, and cofounder of Taproot Earth. I have admired Colette and the work of Taproot Earth since entering the environmental justices space years ago.
Taproot Earth leads impactful, creative projects at the intersection of climate justice, repair, power-building, and frontline governance across regions and borders.

16 years ago, two devastating disasters unfolded within weeks of each other, bookending the deadly cost of America’s dependence on fossil fuels.
On April 5, 2010, twenty-nine coal miners lost their lives in the Upper Big Branch Mine explosion in West Virginia. Just fifteen days later, on April 20, the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, killing eleven workers and unleashing what would become the largest marine oil spill in history.
As we mark these somber anniversaries, we must remember that the struggle for labor justice, energy justice, and climate justice are not separate movements — they are one fight with many fronts.
In honor of the forty lives lost sixteen years ago, and countless others sacrificed to extraction before and since, we choose now to fight for a world where energy comes not at the cost of human lives or poisoned land, but from renewable sources that sustain rather than extract.
