This was played at 12:30AM on Monday morning, on the closing night of the festival. It was a very fun set to play, on a rather incredible sound system. 45 minutes of improvisation at 147BPM. I tried to play something different from the past few live sets, and I feel I succeeded at that. Some excerpts from my set at my friend @srsharvie ‘s 40th birthday. Syntakt’s new sample playing capabilities, as well as having an early set following a gabba set gave me the opportunity to try stuff I’ve never done before. Before this set I had literally never played amen break, I loaded a random loop I found the day before. Went really quite fast, heavy, and bass-y(for my standards), leaving little breathing space. These are a few excerpts from my set for @dissolve.sheff at @plot22sheffield . The full set is out on Dissolve’s Mixcloud and my YouTube channel. 80 minutes of improv. Dissolve being an Acid party, I focused on that side of things more than usual. It covered a lot of territory and led to some stuff I haven’t done before, things got quite fast and intense. As usual, the @weareelektron Syntakt was the core of the set. Excerpts from my set at the last @cruxsoundsystem free party, full set on my YouTube (link in bio). Played a lot more acid than usual, a lot less atonal than usual – dare I say melodic at times, and a lot more stuff that wasn’t strictly four on the floor. The end result was a set that was extremely fun to play and also my best received set at a free party by far! It was very hard to pick sections to put on a post here, especially as lot of them mutate into each other in interesting ways. Starts at 140BPM and ends at 150BPM. Syntakt, TD-3-MO, Edge, Grind, and a few bits and bobs of Oneiroi. #047: drOneiro It’d been a while since I last recorded something I’m happy to upload. As per usually the full jam is on my YouTube channel. I’d been busy, then I was rewiring bits of my setup, and ended up not really particularly psyched to actually play much. Finally back to it, I got straight to trying to integrate the @befacosynth Oneiroi to my regular workflow. Ended up sequencing its oscillators from my SQ-1 and using it both as a resembler and sound-processor for the Edge. This ended up being a much more satisfying way to use it for me than totally standalone. I still need to figure out a way of clocking the sampler, there’s a lot of guesswork involved right now. Also, I still am not entirely used to its two filters and it’s too easy to get too wet. Either way, it’s lead i to some pleasing dark and moody territory. Onwards!
