As the climbing and techno scenes continue to expand, merge and dissolve into one another we’re featuring another dedicated exponent of both lifestyles…. Slam Dunc aka @campbell.dunc
After years of enjoying the music from the dance floor, he’s pitched head first into his DJ destiny and along with Decomposed Radio favourite Flostate and Matt Bateman (who we’ll defo be pinning down for a mix too!) has gone full send in organising a series of nights and events sharing their joint vision of how a techno night should be, drawing from extensive experiences of both grassroots and big professional parties. So for show 099 expect a refined blend of machine made 303 acid, ravey techno, and deeper darker beats inspired by multiple pilgrimages to Berlin.
If you like what you hear, definitely get yourself along to @dissolve.sheff this coming Friday 17th of April with Flostate, St. Jude, @rosieglow__ and Slam Dunc all on the lineup. South Bank Warehouse is the place to be for this epic slice of Berlin meets Sheffield. Doors open 9pm and the scenes push on until 6am. One of the best things about organising parties is the opportunity to get new folks at the helm of a sound system. We’re fortunate to be part of a scene crazy full of people passionate about exciting and interesting dance music. In its youth, expanding across borders and subcultures, acid house was freed from constraints, allowing it to explore new forms. It was this radiation that spawned our most beloved genre: techno.
Following in those footsteps, we’re excited to offer something a little different with this second event. Inspired by traditions from Berlin, we aim to bring together a dance floor which places self-expression and experimentation at its heart, bound together in collective catharsis by loud, mesmeric techno. Everyone is welcome, dancing with the wildest abandon is encouraged and no outfit is too much (or too little). In the same vein, you can expect longer sets, darker rooms and music with harder edges and deeper depths. Unlike in Berlin, we won’t be turning anyone away at the door… if you arrive ready to let loose and respect other dancers, our answer will always be “Ja!”.
Alongside dissolve residents, music will be curated by new friends. Welcoming Rosie Glow, hailing from Manchester, all round queen and orchestrator of HERA, and the guiding hand that brought our very own FloState into being.
Thanks to the support of all of you sweet lil acid huns getting down and dirty to the squelch last month, we were able to donate a pretty decent 250 ish quid to MSF. Cheers all 🧪 ❤️
