We’re gettin hitched! Sixteen years ago, we met in Boulder, Colorado. Probably at the Sundowner, we can’t remember. Two and a half years ago, we cranked it up a notch. Smoochin, etc. Soon after, we became roommates... with benefits. And then, last Friday at dusk, with the volcanoes of the Pacific Northwest as our witnesses (also Navi... and possibly Sasquatch), Jim got down on one knee and Ali said “of course I will.” They said it couldn’t be done. Like taming a mighty squall, or lassoing the moon, we did the impossible. And we couldn’t be happier 💛 Coming soon to an altar near you.

In honor of “Snail Hunters” playing at @mountainfilm this weekend, here’s a sneak peak! Did you know snails can estivate in their shells for years at a time? And these shells, bearing the same Fibonacci spiral as our Milky Way galaxy, have been used as currency and spiritual talismans for thousands of years. Oh and their genitals are on their face. When @hollyandres first sent me the short story that inspired Agnes, I was instantly hooked. The achingly flawed and troubled lead character, with her inescapable emotions and obsessive, toxic love, with her isolation and her pain, spoke to a damp strip of my soul fabric. Agnes is a story told beyond words, an unraveling of questions and possibility, driven by the music of M. Ward, @bravenewgrrl ’s exquisite embodiment of the role (and @rayavinar ’s fire as her daughter), and all held by Holly’s masterful eye and vision. It was an honor getting to DP this one, and I am awfully excited to see it begin its festival circuit!
