As the weather turns gray, we can’t help but reminisce about those golden days on the Oregon Coast 🌊☀️
Beachside mornings, salty air, and a van that makes every shoreline feel like home. Here’s to chasing the sun—until next summer rolls back around.

@rhysbalmer and I have had some great adventures over the years. Whenever he extends an invite, I do whatever I can to join the crew. This next one is one for the bucket list: 750 miles racing to Alaska on his 33’ Soverell sailboat “Elsewhere.” No engine, only wind and human propulsion. For us, that means pedaling a stationary bike below deck anytime it’s not blowing. Since he’s put together an amazingly talented crew of racers—much more experienced than I—I’m training to bring as much as I can to the pedaling effort. Today is day 10/10 out of the 100 straight that I’m doing leading up to the race.
Good friends are priceless. Doubly so if they invite you to do cool shit with great people. And the frequency of these opportunities typically decreases as you get older. We must be doing something right.
1st prize is $10k, 2nd is a set of steak knives, 3rd prize is you’re fired. I have no use for steak knives and I’ve never been fired.
Looking forward to it, my friend!
