My new book, Drops from the Air, has been published! It will be showcased for the first time this Saturday at @multipleformats It translates my interactive work Air–Drop into the form of a publication. At the Open M Art Fair in Hangzhou, where Air–Drop was exhibited, visitors exchanged hand-drawn messages through Air–Drop, and this volume invites readers to glimpse those messages again via the QR code inside. This publication also reflects on the importance of cultural fairs and fostering a warm global community. art book in China (@abc_artbookinchina ), the organizer of the Open M Art Fair and the interview featured in this book, is a major inspiration for its creation, bringing their warm and positive energy. This month’s theme, “How We Meet Books Again?”, invites new ways of engaging with independent books, and Bind the Air presents a book collectively created on the web. On the site, visitors can move around a globe-shaped sky and leave messages anywhere. Each point is marked not by latitude or longitude but by page numbers. These scattered pages become a single bound book on mobile. Each time you save a PDF, a new volume is published, with a unique timestamp—such as © 11/13/2025 08:37, all contributors—marking the exact moment of its creation. Bind the Air extends from Air–Drop, shown last May in Hangzhou. Under the motto “Under the same sky, breathing the same air,” visitors dropped messages into the air and exchanged them across borders. Bind the Air takes this further: as a global community, we bind the air into a shared book, turning borders into pages that connect us. 한국타이포그라피학회의 전시 《그리드쉬프트》에 참여했습니다! 음악가 조율 @tunerplease 님이 작곡하신 「그리드쉬프트」를 듣고 떠올린 포스터의 제목은 🌫<Phantom Glide>이에요. 개발에서는 다른 사용자가 새로 추가한 예기치 못한 입력으로 인해 처음에는 없던 데이터가 유령처럼 나타나는 현상을 🌫Phantom Read라고 부릅니다. 「그리드쉬프트」에서는 도입부의 음악적 그리드가 새로운 입력에 의해 점차 예상치 못한 방향으로 변형되고 뒤틀리다가, 마지막에는 부유하는 듯한 유기적인 음향으로 변화해가는데, 이것이 마치 정교하게 짜인 데이터베이스 속에서 미묘한 에러와 변수들로 유령들이 탄생하는 것을 떠올리게 했어요. 유령들은 제각기 Piii–, Grrr–와 같은 소리를 내며 울부짖다가, 종착에는 하나의 군무를 이루며 공중을 부유합니다. 예전에 디자인한 폰트 able을 이용해 제작했습니다. I participated in the Korean Typography Society’s exhibition, Gridshift! The title of my poster, inspired by the music piece “Gridshift” composed by @tunerplease , is 🌫 Phantom Glide. In development, a 🌫 Phantom Read refers to a phenomenon where unexpected data suddenly appears due to new input added by another user. In 🎼Gridshift, the musical grid at the beginning gradually transforms and distorts in unexpected directions through new inputs, eventually shifting into a floating, organic soundscape. This reminded me of how subtle errors and variables can break the rules of a precisely structured database, giving birth to ghosts from the system. These ghosts, each growling like Piii– and Grrr–, wail and wander before merging into a collective dance that drifts together through the air. (Do–Re–Mi–Fa) Sol–Ra.dio 📻 is an extension of my previous projects created with my solar panel 🌞 This version was made for the TWA BBQ party designed for both visitors and participants to share joyful memories together. I’ve always loved brightness, cheerful music, and the idea of radio (as a device that connects people through shared music!) During the BBQ, visitors could use Sol–Ra.dio to add their favorite songs to the lounge playlist 🎵 and upload photos 📸 to the TWA Memory Are.na (@aredotna ) channel to print them out through Sol–Ra.dio. To capture the heat of summer, I applied a thermal printing method — these are the photos drawn with the shiny summer🌞! Pic 1. 광복 80주년을 맞아 디자이너 80인이 태극기를 주제로 포스터를 디자인한 <그래서, 광복> 캠페인의 전시에 참여했습니다. 뜻깊은 전시에 초대해 주신 @ttseoul.official @typography_seoul 에 감사드립니다!🙏 ♾️무궁한 아름다운 태극기의 원형을 충실히 따르면서도, 광복 80주년이라는 의미 있는 해를 강조하고자 했습니다. 중앙에 배치된 세 개의 원은 전체적으로 숫자 80을 연상시키도록 구성되었으며, 상단과 하단의 원 사이에는 태극의 물결 형태를 남겨 태극기🇰🇷의 원형과의 연결성을 이어갑니다. 하단에 위치한 두 개의 청색 원은 무한대(♾️) 기호를 형상화한 것으로, 80주년을 넘어 앞으로도 이어질 대한민국의 무궁한 발전을 기원하는 의미를 담고 있습니다. 작품의 제목인 ‘무궁한’은 독립운동 시기, 영원한 번영과 인내의 상징으로 자리했던 대한민국의 국화 무궁화에서 착안했습니다🌺 🇰🇷 In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation, I was happy to join the exhibition “Thus Korea, Thus Liberation 2025”, where 80 graphic designers created posters inspired by the Korean national flag, Taegeukgi. Many thanks to @ttseoul.official and @typography_seoul for inviting me to the meaningful exhibition! ♾️Mugunghan (♾️Endless in Korean) Drawing from the beauty of the original design of the Korean national flag, Taegeukgi, this poster commemorates the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation. The three circles at the center are composed to evoke the number “80,” while the wave form of the Taegeuk is preserved between the top and bottom circles to maintain a visual link to the flag’s circular Taegeuk emblem🇰🇷. The two blue circles at the bottom symbolize the infinity(♾️) sign, expressing a wish for Korea’s boundless growth well beyond this milestone year. The title, ♾️Mugunghan (Endless), is inspired by Korea’s national flower, 🌺Mugunghwa, which during the independence movement became a symbol of eternal prosperity and resilience in the nation’s history. 🌐Exhibition Website: 815tt.kr

Earlier this May, I was invited to exhibit an interactive work in Hangzhou at the Open M Art Fair hosted by @abc_artbookinchina . In response to the exhibition’s theme, Oneness in Air, I presented a piece titled Air–Drop💨 🌏The space of Air–Drop is the world we live in. Using the arrow keys on a special mouse, the Earth on screen slowly moves, and the latitude and longitude values shift to reveal your floating position in the world. Visitors can freely drift through the air and drop their messages in chosen places. (Pic 1) 📩Once dropped, the message floats at that location. When someone tags an envelope on the Drop Zone table using their smartphone, one of the floating messages in Air–Drop is randomly delivered to them. (Pic 2) In previous works, I often used Google Maps to represent the idea of traveling the world. But for this project, I removed all national borders and country labels, leaving only latitude and longitude to suggest that we are somewhere on Earth. Because I believe we are all breathing the same air, under the same sky, and there’s no need to draw boundaries between us. Without even realizing it, visitors travel across the world and share their hearts with different corners of the Earth💞 I was so happy to meet new friends and explore the beautiful city of Hangzhou during the exhibition. (Pic 1) 📩떨어진 메시지는 그 장소 위에 고정되고, 스마트폰으로 Drop Zone 테이블에 있는 봉투를 태깅 하면 현재 Air–Drop에 있는 메시지 중 하나가 무작위로 방문자에게 전송됩니다. (Pic 2) 이전 작업들에서 저는 장소의 이동을 나타내기 위해 구글맵을 주로 사용했는데요, 이번 프로젝트에서는 구글맵에서 보여지는 특정 대륙과 나라명을 드러내는 대신에 현재 위치가 지구의 어느 곳임을 암시하는 위도와 경도의 숫자만을 남기고 지도의 모든 국경을 제거했습니다. 왜냐하면 우리는—Oneness in Air—하늘 아래 모두 하나이기 때문에, 서로의 경계를 나누는 국가 간의 장벽이 불필요하다고 생각했기 때문이에요. 방문자들은 자신도 모르는 사이 세계 곳곳을 누비며 서로의 마음을 주고받습니다💞
