Here are some install shots of @jessicajanecharleston and @joana.galego and my collaborative paintings in Between Us, an exhibtion organised by @binderofwomen_ in collaboration with @sohorevue !
It was so much fun and also so interesting to paint with my friends and see how they approach a painting. I think I learnt a lot in the process! We started with the aim of making some kind of tent or shelter but I think what we have ended up with has been a surprise for us all! A few people have said it’s a womb-like space, which I like!
Open until the 6th June !
The gallery is open Wednesday - Saturday 12 -6 pm
I am so happy to be taking part in the @binderofwomen_ s forthcoming show-
Between Us
Initiated by artist @piapack and @indiarosejames of @sohorevue , the twelve artists in the show were selected through a process of artistic invitation, with each female artist extending the project by inviting another. Thank you so much for inviting me @joana.galego !
It has been very fun and exciting to make collaborative work for the show with @joana.galego and @jessicajanecharleston . it’s been inspiring and generally a delight to see these two artists and friends I admire so much at work. Here are some pictures of the work in progress! Lots of surprises!
Alongside our big paintings we’ve also been making prints with @james_randell_ in the @revuestudios_soho print room. Looking forward to sharing more about this soon!
Please come and see what we’ve made and celebrate with us at the private view on 22nd April!

One from last year -
Geraniums
55 x 65 cm
Distemper on hessian
2025
I have some different varieties of geraniums on my window sill, mostly grown from cuttings from my mum and grandmas geraniums. I love the smell of them. I often forget to water them, but luckily these plants seem to thrive on neglect.

But turning this post into an Alfred appreciation post. Sadly we lost Alfred recently to a strange and very unexpected accident. He was the most good natured, sweet and friendly dog. Who we will miss so much.

Some pictures of the studio and works in progress on the last few studio days of 2025 !
Lots of things I can’t wait to get back to in 2026 - and I am really looking forward to spending much more time in the studio next year thanks to the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, who I still can’t believe have awarded me a second grant! Thank you so much @elizabethgreenshieldsfdn !
But for now, time for a break! Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and happy new year!

Workshop: Reimagining the Self-Portrait
with @alice__mac and @jessicajanecharleston Guest RWS
Sunday 18th January 2026
To celebrate the opening of Soft Edges, the RWS will be hosting a one-off workshop with Guest Members Alice Macdonald and Jessica Jane Charleston at RWS Gallery.
In this workshop you will join both artists in reimagining what the self-portrait can be. Using the self-portrait as a starting point, you will be guided to create new characters and scenes, drawing from life, the imagination, props and drapery.
You will start the day by exploring how other artists have re-imagined the self portrait, looking at artists like Paula Rego, Alice Neel, Edvard Munch, Chantal Joffe and many more. Alice and Jessica will lead various short exercises experimenting with materials and composition, and you will be guided to create a more considered watercolour painting in the afternoon.
Suitable for all levels, this workshop will be a playful and inventive experience. ~ More information and tickets are available through the link in our bio. Limited availability ~
