📣💥💥🌟🎶🌷🤩✨Today is the day!!! With endless gratitude to song, spirit, and community, Loosen is now in the world and available anywhere you stream music 🌎🔥THANK YOU for making it possible to bring this dream of an album to life.
🌊Loosen is a prayer for a world with both tremendous loss and possibility. As things fall apart, who will we become? What will reach us in the places we became numb and resigned, so we can feel our hearts and rise up again? This music is for finding you where you are, to remind you that you were made for this moment. Another world is on her way, holding you as you grieve in this one. This world has their arms outstretched and is beckoning you forward. She is gravity, holding you in place as everything spins. This world is made for you and you are made of it, that fine dust, the stuff of stars. We will make a home for all of us from what has been.
🌈It has been such joy, growing pains, and deep learning to make this album. This song is about grief, but it is also about beauty. Grief wants us not to miss a single moment of beauty, including the loss of it. These songs are to help us stop, feel, and figure out how to build a society that cherishes life. As we enter Pesach, may this album accompany you as we tell new and old liberation stories.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥WE DID IT! I honestly can’t believe it. I hope you enjoy, and feel free to share this with your worlds and loves 🌎

Good morning, irresistible singing resisters ❤️🔥 We are still so filled up from weaving all of our voices together and the energy and spirit we created. THANK YOU to the 75 people who showed up and made this powerful night of song possible.
Together we also raised a total of $1,664.36 for @vamos_juntos_ !! These funds will go towards Juntos’ organizing work to support families and communities who have been impacted by ICE raid, as well as continued efforts to organize for immigrant justice. If you didn’t get to give last night and still want to contribute, you can donate at GoFundMe.com/srphilly.
A huge thanks to our song leaders for bringing stories, lineages & soul medicine to the space. @reverendrhetta@alhalpal@sterlingduns@samantharise@chanarothman_music@dancingmobot@krodmannn@rachel.chang.395

Join us on Tuesday, May 12th from 7-8:30pm at @koltzedek (5300 Whitby Ave) for an evening of Singing Resistance, in partnership with @noicephilly . We will learn & practice anti-ICE/migrant justice/movement liberation songs that we can sing in the streets, and fill our own cups to continue to fight authoritarianism and build the world we need. for the sacred protectors of life and for the sacred protected
for Renee Good and Parady La and Frank Porter Jr. and Alex Pretti, for all the names we don’t know
this song is inspired by @starhawk_spiral and the tactics of bringing the dead with us, of spiritual haunting, of always offering a way back to humanity
full song coming soon another time ❤️
lyrics:
Ancestor taken before her time
You stole her
And she was a mother
And she was a poet
And she was a wife
And she was a neighbor
Who cared for other neighbors
And you took her life
Quit your job
We are the ghost of Renee Good
And we are the voices of all of the people you’ve caged and killed
And those they’ve left behind
Quit your job
We are the cries of those you’ve detained
And we have a power that you do not understand
And we won’t leave you in peace again
Ancestor taken before his time
He was a father and
He was an uncle
On the way to the store
To feed his family
And you took his life
Quit your job
We are the ghost of Parady La
And we are the voices of all of the people you’ve caged and killed
And those they’ve left behind
Quit your job
We are the cries of those you’ve detained
And we have a power that you do not understand
And we will remain

dear friends, happy kislev/ month of dreaming! ♥️
I started this art project early this summer drawing flowers from our backyard and the surrounding blocks, and finished with the last marigolds in the fall. I love getting to do most of my paid work in music, and I still find that actually prioritizing making art (improvising with people, practicing my instruments, writing songs, working on the chicken musical, dancing, drawing, etc.) is the hardest thing to get myself to do. Everything else – emails, meetings, coordinating – seems to take up the whole day and then I’ve lived a whole day again without creating anything.
This isn’t to knock important administrative work – everyone close to me knows I famously love an email, and it just wouldn’t work to be a freelance artist without it. But I’ve also noticed there’s a way where it just… spreads out.
So, this is for all of us who are trying to figure out how to prioritize making art more in our daily lives.
This poster is now for sale on my bandcamp in 12x12, 10x10 and 8x8 sizes (*if you are in my artist chevre (friend family), please text me to check that I am not already sending you one bc odds are high that I am). It’s a great hanukkah gift for the artists you love, including yourself!
happy art making 🎨🖼️🎶🎵

MAZAL TOV to Zohran Mamdani and to everyone who worked so hard to elect him 💐💐💐💐
Before election night I was praying each day that Islamophobia and the weaponization of anti-semitism would not be enough to stop the most hopeful campaign for working people I’ve ever seen. I’m furious that Zohran had to contend with so much vitriol and racism especially in the final days of his campaign, and so proud of @jfrejnyc@jewsforzohran@ifnotnoworg@jvpny@rabbis4ceasefire and everyone who insisted over and over that our safety is actually in solidarity with each other. We won’t be divided. We won, and we will keep winning.
