Agnes Wong is 1 of 1 who explores esoteric and ethereal ideas, creating little worlds that transforms her ideas into something tangible and visible. Like many of us she discovered her interests by being perpetually online as a teenager. Such formative years.
As a multidisciplinary artist and curator based in Hong Kong and Tkaronto, her inspiration and influences are impressive and unique. Shaped by love, letting her interactions and interpretations form her work.
As the founder of Forever Gift Shop, Agnes creates souvenirs from imaginary places that do not exist, transient relics of longing. Creating memorabilia from collective memory.
Love, images and novelty that bring so much joy. Agnes shares how actively trying to see the beauty in the everyday and pursuing new things whether it be an experience or a discipline, makes life fulfilling.

Disguised beneath the facade of a stereotypical “magic show”, ℳ𝒶𝑔𝒾𝒸 𝒮𝒽ℴ𝓌 ᵖᵃʳᵗ ᵒⁿᵉ is an exhibition that explores the vulnerability, uncertainty, and fear hidden behind our many tricks and illusions, often revealed after a closer look. If luck can only get you so far as an artist, what happens when your bag of tricks and illusions run out? Featuring work from Angie Cabz :D, Paula McLean, Philip Leonard Ocampo, Seden, Victoria Vyraeth, and curated by Agnes Wong, ℳ𝒶𝑔𝒾𝒸 𝒮𝒽ℴ𝓌 ᵖᵃʳᵗ ᵒⁿᵉ is a musing on fate, illusion, and drawing back the (stage) curtains to reveal an unjustified spectacle.

Curating a show in less than 2 months and being overseas for about half of that feels like a magic trick in itself already 🤹🏻♀️ forever thankful to everyone involved for hearing me out and joining me on this ridiculous journey, fuelled by trust and love for what we do 🥹😼 with 🩷 to Stella + Theoren for the invite and endless support and advice

Curated by Agnes Wong, Magic Show (part one) will be opening September 7th and run until the 22nd. Like a white rabbit pulled from a hat…. and also everything else.

Agnes Wong (she/her) is a multidisciplinary designer, artist, and curator based in Tkaronto/Toronto and Hong Kong. She holds a BFA (Honours with Distinction) in Publications from OCAD University (2023) and has completed her propaedeutic studies at Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands. She is also the founder of @forever.giftshop ᯓ★
Agnes has been with Xpace since October 2023: designing, coordinating, and writing almost everything you see on our social media and online 🌐💻📄
