In the 70s, #Zamrock was the soundtrack to a Zambian revolution. It was music that blended garage-rock energy with deep African rhythms to create something entirely its own. Among those at the centre of this movement was W.I.T.C.H aka
@weintendtocausehavoc . In recent years, the genre and the band have seen a significant shift through international tours and intergenerational collaborations.
Emmanuel “Jagari” Chanda remains the high-voltage heart of that movement today, serving as a living bridge between the independence era and the modern day.
The story continued after the records went out of print. Through collaborations with the likes of Amanaz,
@sampa_the_great , Theresa Ng’ambi, and Nico Mauskoviç, Zamrock is being rewritten in real-time.
