Art direction and graphic design for Rewire Festival 2025. An international celebration of contemporary music and adventurous sounds. Happening at multiple venues in the city of The Hague (NL), the programme combines concerts, art installations, workshops, talks and exhibitions over the course of four days.
For the concept of Rewire 2025, we referred to the given festival theme »Ears to the Ground«. Based on the auditory approaches of the invited musicians for this edition, we moved into public spaces to explore and document traces, imprints and testimonies as repositories of past and current stories. Using various techniques such as frottage, dusting methods, relief scanning, as well as painterly gestures, we uncovered, reconstructed, and documented imprints. By collecting and sequentially arranging the material, we created sensitive surfaces that, through varying densities and textures, also produced musical effects for the eye. The visual concept was titled »Eyes to the Ground« because, through the specified techniques, we captured and highlighted the testimony of our immediate surroundings on a visual level — like a visual field recording.
