Maybe the purpose of an orchard, of a garden, of a forest, is to scatter the seed and love whatever may sprout... and shout its name at the top of your lungs...
And so concludes one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In Spring 2025, my team (@kirsten_king_official_ , @tadiwaa.nashee , and myself) were chosen to develop a choreopoem that I wrote (with contribution from Nzzy Odessa and Choreography from Dr. Nicholas Goodly (an amazing poet, dancer, and friend)) as a part of Round 11 of the Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab facilitated by the Alliance Theater...
The last year has been a fever dream of late night writing sessions, emotional rehearsals, challenges, hurdles, trials, and tribulations... and honestly, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I am so grateful to every hand that has touched this project, and every voice that has contributed an opinion, a suggestion, or piece of encouragement as we've journeyed to our final staged reading. And rather than recount further how intense this journey has been (feel free to ask), or even talk about what the show is about (I am determined to make sure you get the chance to see it again, live), I'd rather spend time talking about the community that this project has grown... my garden of love. (See pics 10 - 16)
Join me this Tuesday on @wrfgatlanta on 89.3FM or WRFG.ORG from 2p-4p for Musical Mosaics. I’m so happy to have in the studio with me @clevelandpjones as we discuss his phenomenal journey and his upcoming performance at the Atlanta Jazz Festival. So come & get these grooves you can use & support your local, community radio station as we count down to the @atlantajazzfestival

We back to kick off May the right way with the best free event in the city. One of the things we love most about Old Atlanta was the ability to access excellence without spending your whole paycheck. Pull up for that experience. We've got the genre-bending effervescent Erika JaNaé as our musical feature and the hilarious comedian Lona the Great bringing the laughs.
DJ Rasyrious is back on the 1s and 2s. And David and Adán hosting with laughter and lyrics.

Join @soulcinemasundays this Sunday, April 19th! Did I say This Sunday! I am very honored to have been asked to be the guest moderator after the screening of “Purple Rain.” Purple Rain is very special to me. As a Prince obsessor, I watched this movie as well as “Under the Cherry Moon” ad nauseum. He was a master, a mentor, a visionary, a rebel, a trendsetter and so much more.
I’m honored to be having a discussion with @erniesuggs as we talk about Prince’s incredible life, legacy & the indelible impression he left on us all.
Sunday April 19th at 4pm at the Plaza Theatre
Hosted by @teamabyss
You can get tickets at @soulcinemasundays bio or at the door.
