Moving Beyond the Conversation and Taking Action #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
In her latest blog, Elise, our Strategic Lead for Health and Physical Activity, reflects on the role that movement can play in supporting mental wellbeing, while recognising that when someone is struggling, being told to “move more” can feel overwhelming or out of reach.
The blog explores why action needs to be realistic, inclusive and person-centred, and that knowing where to go for support is just as important as the activity. #MoveTogether #EverydayActive

Last week we hosted our Eco Ambassador Training at Polo Farm, bringing together 41 pupils from Years 4 and 5 for an inspiring day focused on sustainability♻️ 🌍 The students explored their environmental impact through physical activity and worked together to create action plans they can take back to their schools in their role as Eco Ambassadors.
Huge thanks to @kentwildlife , @kcc_kent Schools Active Travel & Road Safety Team and inspirational Eco Athlete, @swim_sarah_swimm for delivering such engaging, hands-on workshops throughout the day🙌
💬 “It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, creativity and commitment from the young people. We can’t wait to see their ideas turned into action back at school.” Karen Cheese, Events and School Games Coordinator, Active Kent & Medway

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 is all about ACTION. That’s why we’re delighted to launch our NEW Mental Health Support Framework for clubs and organisations across Kent and Medway.
The framework turns awareness into practical action, helping clubs and Club Welfare Officers take simple, realistic steps to create supportive environments and confidently signpost people to help.
Take action this #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek for yourself, for someone else, for all of us.

💬 “I’ve been suffering from depression, and this group has really helped me turn a corner. I feel like I’m basically here because of it.”
In our short film, Vicky, Tracy, Valerie, Trevor and Sue talk honestly about how being active has supported their mental health. Their stories are a good reminder that small steps can make a big difference this Mental Health Awareness Week.

Mental Health Awareness Week starts on Monday (11–17 May). This year it’s all about ACTION.
Talking about mental health is important, but it’s what we do that really makes a difference.
Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing practical content to take action ‘for yourself, for someone else, for all of us’. Why not join the conversation and take action too?
