Did you know? Language access remains one of the most important factors in improving voter participation, especially within many Asian American and Pacific Islander communities where households may speak multiple languages at home or include first-generation immigrants navigating the voting process for the first time. When ballots, voter guides, candidate information, and election resources are clearly translated and culturally accessible, communities are more likely to feel informed, confident, and included in civic life. Education also plays a major role in voter turnout rates. People are significantly more likely to vote when they understand how local government decisions affect daily life — including schools, transportation, housing, healthcare, and small businesses. Civic education helps reduce confusion, misinformation, and intimidation surrounding registration deadlines, voting locations, and ballot measures. Big thank you to @voteorangefl for hosting the AAPI Townhall this past week in honor of AAPI Heritage Month and a special thank you to @news13 @jeffallenreports for taking time to tell our stories! Link in bio for full story! Learn more about how to get involved and join us to make a difference! Strong voter participation is built over time through trust, access, education, and consistent community involvement — ensuring every resident feels their voice matters and their vote has value.

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month! This week Asian American Pacific Islanders Coming Together (ACT) hosted an AAPI town hall with Orange County Supervisor of Elections Karen Castor Dentel, bringing community members together for an important conversation on civic engagement and the issues impacting AAPI families across Central Florida. Discussions focused on the economy, immigration, healthcare, and the impact of war on AAPI communities, while also giving residents an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and learn more about the importance of participating in local elections. There was also an insightful panel with @mtskitchenllc owners Dan and Brittney and also @aja.digitals an ACT fellow and UCF senior. The event highlighted the power of voting and community involvement, encouraging attendees to stay engaged and ensure AAPI voices continue to be represented in the democratic process. A special shoutout goes to Mae Tao and Sons Kitchen, the Lao and Cambodian food truck that provided delicious chicken sandwiches and skewers for attendees, helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere centered around culture, conversation, and community connection.

May is AAPI Heritage Month! This week - Community members gathered at Kaya for Coffee with Your Congressman @repmaxwellfrost who represents the Orlando area, hosted in partnership with Asian American Pacific Islanders Coming Together (ACT). The event brought together AAPI community leaders, advocates, and residents for a thoughtful conversation with Maxwell Frost on key legislative and civic issues impacting the community. Attendees heard updates and participated in discussion surrounding issues such as immigration, civic engagement, youth leadership development, the economy, and other developments at the federal level, creating an open forum for dialogue and engagement over coffee by @qreatecoffee at one of Orlando’s most acclaimed Filipino restaurants. The gathering reflected ACT’s continued commitment to civic participation, education, and coalition-building within Central Florida’s Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. Guests had the opportunity to connect directly with elected leadership, ask questions, and discuss concerns affecting immigrant communities, voting access, representation, and public policy. Organizers also expressed appreciation to Kaya Orlando for hosting the event and helping create a welcoming space for meaningful conversation and community connection. Follow @actflorida for more!

Today, we had the privilege of participating in ACT's town hall meeting, where we spoke on issues that matter deeply to us, as Asian Americans, small business owners, and soon-to-be parents. It was an incredibly meaningful experience, and we’re grateful to have had our voices heard. See 2nd slide for the proclamation! Your voice matters, too. Make sure you go out and vote!!

This AAPI Heritage Month, we are telling a complete story. 🔹 26 million strong — the fastest-growing demographic in America 🔹 3 million businesses employing over 5 million people generating $1.2 trillion in annual receipts 🔹 $240 billion in taxes paid in a single year That is not a footnote. That is a foundation. But, numbers alone don’t create political influence — showing up does. Read the full op-ed written by ACT's cofounder Kam Shenai and find out what we must do next with the link in our bio
