Mae Tao & Son’s Kitchen started as a simple dream between a husband and wife (aka us) who wanted to share the culture we grew up with. When we moved to Orlando, we realized that Cambodian and Lao food and culture weren’t something we saw represented very often. We wanted to change that. What began as a small tent has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of today. Every dish we serve reflects the flavors of Cambodia and Laos, the traditions we grew up with, and the passion we have for sharing our culture with the community here in Orlando. Small businesses like ours truly survive because of the people who support them. Whether it’s coming out to try the food, spreading the word, sharing a post, or simply liking our content, it makes a bigger impact than most people realize. Your support helps families like ours continue doing what we love. It means even more to us right now as we prepare to welcome our little one this August. Supporting small businesses isn’t just about buying food, it's about helping families, dreams, and cultures grow. We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported Mae Tao & Son’s Kitchen and helped us grow from a small husband-and-wife tent into what we are today. Thank you for being part of our journey. ❤️

Here’s a little feature on us! The link is in our story and bio! We’re learning to celebrate the small wins when they come, and this one means a lot. Thank you to @infatuation and @eatthecanvasllc for the write-up and for taking the time to share what we do. We take so much pride in our food and always aim to bring some of the best flavors to Orlando! Thank you Mae Tao & Sons Team members & @palmbeachmeats407 for supplying us wagyu 🙏♥️

Fire Crab Sando, inspired by the Cambodian stir-fry favorite, Cha Kdam! 🇰🇭🦀 Made with real soft shell crab marinated in our house-made spice paste, layered on top of a crab claw meat rice patty (think of it like a crab croquette 🤤), and finished with our signature Volcano topping. This special is our way of taking familiar flavors and presenting them in a fun, approachable way while still paying homage to Cambodian cuisine and the flavors we grew up loving. Available starting today through Sunday, May 17th only at Mae Tao & Son's Kitchen! 🌋🦀

Before there was Mae Tao & Son's Kitchen, there were just two kids growing up as Cambodian and Lao American, trying to navigate two different worlds at once. These photos remind us how far our families came to give us opportunities they never had. Like many Southeast Asian families, our parents came here carrying trauma, survival stories, and traditions they fought hard to hold onto while adapting to life in America. Growing up wasn’t always easy. There were moments when our families were judged for their accents, their customs, and even for speaking Khmer and Lao in our homes. We remember school systems reprimanding our parents for not enforcing English, despite English not being their first language themselves. At times, it made us feel like parts of our culture had to be hidden just to fit in. During AAPI Heritage Month, we especially reflect on how important representation is. Cambodian and Lao communities are often tucked away quietly throughout Central Florida and across the country, with many of our stories, foods, and experiences going unseen. Through our food, we hope to bring Cambodian and Lao flavors to people in an approachable way, educate others on our cultures, and create spaces where people feel connected through food and conversation.

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month! This week Asian American Pacific Islanders Coming Together (ACT) hosted an AAPI town hall with Orange County Supervisor of Elections Karen Castor Dentel, bringing community members together for an important conversation on civic engagement and the issues impacting AAPI families across Central Florida. Discussions focused on the economy, immigration, healthcare, and the impact of war on AAPI communities, while also giving residents an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and learn more about the importance of participating in local elections. There was also an insightful panel with @mtskitchenllc owners Dan and Brittney and also @aja.digitals an ACT fellow and UCF senior. The event highlighted the power of voting and community involvement, encouraging attendees to stay engaged and ensure AAPI voices continue to be represented in the democratic process. A special shoutout goes to Mae Tao and Sons Kitchen, the Lao and Cambodian food truck that provided delicious chicken sandwiches and skewers for attendees, helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere centered around culture, conversation, and community connection.

Today, we had the privilege of participating in ACT's town hall meeting, where we spoke on issues that matter deeply to us, as Asian Americans, small business owners, and soon-to-be parents. It was an incredibly meaningful experience, and we’re grateful to have had our voices heard. See 2nd slide for the proclamation! Your voice matters, too. Make sure you go out and vote!!
