Squid Game in Real Life?? If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’re inside a live-action video game, Sandbox VR at Pointe Orlando is one of the most immersive group activities in Orlando right now. Using full-body motion capture, haptic vests, and free-roam VR, players physically walk, duck, dodge, and compete inside cinematic virtual worlds instead of standing still with a headset. The biggest draw is the officially licensed “Squid Game Virtuals” experience inspired by the Netflix series, where groups compete through high-pressure mini-games including Red Light Green Light and other survival-style challenges while seeing each other as avatars in real time. It’s built for groups, making it a strong option for birthdays, team outings, date nights, and friends looking for something more interactive than a typical arcade or escape room. Sandbox VR Orlando is located at 9101 International Drive Space 108 inside Pointe Orlando. Hours are generally Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pricing is usually around $50 to $60 per person depending on day and time, with most experiences lasting about 45 minutes to an hour including check-in and post-game highlight videos. The automatically generated replay videos are one of the best parts because they capture your group inside the game world and are easy to share on social media afterward. Besides Squid Game, other popular experiences include zombie survival and sci-fi shooter games, but Squid Game remains the signature attraction for first-time visitors because of the competitive reactions and recognizable challenges. Check them out asap and follow us @tastychomps for more @sandboxvr_orlando @pointeorlando @aja.digitals

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month! This week Asian American Pacific Islanders Coming Together (ACT) hosted an AAPI town hall with Orange County Supervisor of Elections Karen Castor Dentel, bringing community members together for an important conversation on civic engagement and the issues impacting AAPI families across Central Florida. Discussions focused on the economy, immigration, healthcare, and the impact of war on AAPI communities, while also giving residents an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and learn more about the importance of participating in local elections. There was also an insightful panel with @mtskitchenllc owners Dan and Brittney and also @aja.digitals an ACT fellow and UCF senior. The event highlighted the power of voting and community involvement, encouraging attendees to stay engaged and ensure AAPI voices continue to be represented in the democratic process. A special shoutout goes to Mae Tao and Sons Kitchen, the Lao and Cambodian food truck that provided delicious chicken sandwiches and skewers for attendees, helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere centered around culture, conversation, and community connection.

New in Orlando! Mexican Restaurant @fat_rosies brings the fiesta party dining experience to @shopwaterford , the first in Florida for the Chicago-based restaurant. The restaurant features vibrant décor, music, and a lively environment that’s especially popular for birthdays and group dinners. I recommend starting with the fiesta nachos and a margarita made with 100% blue agave tequila (mocktails available too), then digging into the chicken and steak fajitas and quesabirria tacos, and saving room for Rosie’s signature churro sundae. Stop in on Tuesday, May 5 to enjoy their full lineup of margaritas, modern Mexican cuisine, and their Cinco de Mayo festivities, with mariachis, dancers, and face painters joining the celebration after 5:00 PM! Check them out asap and follow @tastychomps for more! #WaterfordLakes #FatRosies #OrlandoFoodies

New in Orlando! Glow or Go at The Florida Mall is an indoor, interactive group experience that mixes elements of an escape room, arcade, and obstacle course. Groups move through five different challenge rooms—laser mazes, “floor is lava,” reflex-based games, and target puzzles—working together against the clock to complete each task. The full experience runs about 75 minutes and ends with a colorful paint blast finale that’s messy in a fun, photo-friendly way. It’s designed to be active and social, so expect a mix of movement and quick thinking rather than a traditional clue-solving escape room. Tickets typically start around $22 per person depending on time and demand. It’s located inside The Florida Mall near the Macy’s entrance and is fully indoors, making it an easy option for avoiding the heat this summer 🥵 . Popular for birthdays, date nights, and group outings, it’s best to wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy in.
