The Israel National Cyber Directorate has repeatedly warned the public not to open links from unofficial sources and to block specific numbers used for these “narrative attacks”.
Many of these messages contain “phishing” links that authorities say are used to collect personal information or infect devices with spyware and malware.
In March 2026, Hezbollah issued rare evacuation orders in Hebrew via its official Telegram channel, warning residents in 23 settlements within 5km of the border to leave immediately.
Thousands of Israelis have received fraudulent SMS messages spoofing the IDF Home Front Command. These often urge recipients to enter bomb shelters immediately or warn that fuel supplies will be suspended.
In May 2025, residents received hoax calls and voice notes featuring recordings of hostages in Gaza. Some clips asked, “There are hostages in Gaza, why are you waiting?” aimed at increasing domestic pressure and fear.
