What purpose does it serve in the organization in lieu of an HR role?
Join us for our next Artist Legal Cafe on May 19!
We'll be hosting our usual FREE legal counseling cafe from 3:30-5:30pm at @bandaloopstudios in West Oakland.
Before our regular cafe hours, we’ll be offering with a special nano-training from 3-3:30pm: Individual Donor Cultivation with Nicole Lugtu, Major Gifts Officer at the @asianartmuseum .
This nano-training will cover practical strategies for identifying, approaching, and cultivating individual donors in ways that feel authentic, relational, and aligned with your artistic practice.
About the nano-training facilitator:
Nicole Lugtu (she/her) is a Bay Area-bred immigrant and arts fundraising professional who is proud to support and amplify local creatives and artists through her work and advocacy. She is an artist as a hobby and an art historian by education, thanks to the vibrant cultural institutions and vast opportunities to engage with art in the Bay. Nicole worked in development at San Francisco Ballet, San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, and SFMOMA and currently uplifts the work of Asian and Asian diaspora artists by working in philanthropy at the Asian Art Museum. Her personal art practice includes darkroom photography, watercolor, and acrylics with room to learn much more. She is a passionate advocate for our local and regional arts and hopes to give back to the communities that positively impact her own work and values.
In one week, prepare to immerse in many visual concepts in this carnival of color! Bring a recent or upcoming meeting agenda to use as your example for trying out ideas. You will leave with many examples to spark creativity in your own facilitation. RSVP 🔗 in bio.

‼️ Call for support: financial and in-kind donations needed for the National Climate Survival Incubator gathering next month, April 16-22 ‼️❤️🔥🌱
🦋 Climate Mobilization Project is bringing together 20 young Black, Indigenous, and Brown climate builders — engineers deploying solar microgrids, farmers stewarding Indigenous seed systems, organizers running disaster resilience hubs, artists using culture as political infrastructure – for a week of hands-on skill-building (solar, mesh networking, seed saving, biochar, and more), peer learning, and strengthening our collective strategies for climate survival organizing. 🌱
❤️🔥 These 20 leaders represent 17 grassroots survival hubs already operating on the front lines of climate collapse across the U.S. — and this gathering is the centerpiece of a year-long cohort program we are facilitating through November 2026. ❤️🔥
‼️Any additional support doesn’t just fund this one week: it helps us disburse tools, financial resources, and infrastructure to 17 critical resilience initiatives across the country through the end of the year.
🌺 We’d love your support — we are prioritizing financial contributions to the donation link in our bio, but we’re also excited about creative partnerships: in-kind resources, tool donations, connections, or co-promotion. Every dollar goes directly to the gathering and to $1,000 survival tool stipends for each of the 17 projects. And if there’s a way to collaborate that isn’t on our list, we’d love to hear it! Send us a DM or email us: [email protected] 🌺🌱
This workshop will go over myths worth busting about being an artist, the boundaries you already have, and the boundaries you might aspire to have as an artist.
