Got my @naturalstrongman qualifiers submitted to hopefully secure my spot in Scotland in August. I’m excited to shift focus back to building and working on weaknesses again! Feels good to finally have the back mostly rehabbed thanks to @valleyspineandsport šŸ™Œ Low back is finally in homeostasis so now we get to work on the next puzzle piece: fixing my shoulder mobility enough to actually get comfortable under a squat bar again šŸ˜‚ Now it’s time to build, stay healthy, and see what we can put together over the next few months. Zercher Squat death march. I don’t have the space and nor can I justify 4000 dollars for a veritmax. Get a good trusty vest @spudincstraps with some @surplusstrength vech pins and add some bands. Can’t forget @abmat pad for making something suck at least comfortable. #strongman #fitness #gym

Break down and context of the standing leg extensionšŸ‘‡ Context: šŸ”¹ Leg extensions target the quads, however, the rectus femoris crosses the hip AND the knee joint, so it also assists in hip flexion. If the intention is to train this tissue, the hip and the knee must be trained with the respective function. Furthermore, when training the rec fem at the knee joint, positioning the hip in extension with amplify the stimulus to it. Loaded ankle inversion - closed chain I have been really liking how the combo of the @spacermobility origo board & flex spacers facilitates lateral and medial ankle work… This supported set up for loading ankle inversion is one I have been continuously coming back to because of how I can ā€œfeelā€ the tissues I am trying to adapt and develop. This doesn’t necessarily that closed chain is ā€œbetterā€, however it definitely provided a different stimulus neurologically and mechanically. I am specifically removing the balance component to turn this into a tissue specific input where I can put as much force through the target tissue as possible. I place my knee on the @abmat roobox and wrap the @pjfperformance grey band around the box so I can stay centered and minimize adjustments between legs.
