I have been training people for 18 years and the @beyondpowerofficial Voltra 1 might be my new favorite training tool. It has a list of amazing capabilities and features, but the ability to take it anywhere and attach it to virtually anything is what makes this amazing tool so valuable to me.

It’s to change the adaptation. Variation 1: 5 sec lower → 1 sec pause → 5 sec return Built for control, stability, and owning positions. Variation 2: 5 sec lower → 1 sec pause → explosive return Built for control on the way down and intent on the way up. Variation 3: Quick drop → 1 sec pause → explosive return Built for force absorption, braking ability, and reacceleration. Athletes don’t just need to produce force. Slow eccentric split squats -> overspeed eccentric reactive drop catch 🔽 Before we ever talk about change of direction or deceleration training, we need to ask: does this athlete actually have the eccentric capacity to handle those forces? COD and decel are HIGH force, HIGH rate of force development tasks. If the tissues and neuromuscular system haven’t been trained to load eccentrically - you’re essentially asking someone to sprint into a wall they’re not prepared for. Build the foundation first: ✅ Slow eccentrics to develop tissue tolerance & motor control ✅ Progressive overload of eccentric load ✅ Then introduce overspeed/reactive eccentrics to prep for sport demands and chaos Train the quality before you express it. #eccentrics #changeofdirection #basketball #football #soccer
