If you’re lucky enough to visit one of my favorite midwestern art museums @msubroad helmed by the wonderful @steven.l.bridges , you can see @abearnot and my “Whale Bells,” part of the museum’s permanent collection, in their phenomenal visible storage, THE CORE. Alongside the sonic sculptures, the museum shares documentation of @lyngoeringer ’s haunting composition for the bells. (Also on my website, for those curious…) • In other 🐋 🔔 related news, Andrew and I are happy to share that “Whale Bells” will be entering their 4th museum collection, at @futuriumd in Berlin. We’re so pleased to continue to be able to share this project with the public, which invites viewers/listeners to consider our complex acoustic interrelations with whales.

Please join us in welcoming our 2025 Spring Fellows, @abearnot @lieslschubel and @daniellebrensinger ! Andrew Bearnot is an artist and self-described “materialist”: Informed by a background in glassblowing and materials science, they think with and through the substance of things. Bearnot’s work explores moments of queer phenomenology in the everyday. Their sculptures, prints, drawings, and videos are invitations to calibrate oneself and to be calibrated by the world. Liesl Schubel is inspired by the complexity of identity, home and familial histories and relationships as a queer person. Liesl is trained as a glassblower, having worked with glass for over 13 years. They are a founding member of the art collective Flock the Optic. Liesl received their BFA in Glass from Rhode Island School of Design in 2012. They have since continued traveling, pursuing opportunities to expand their understanding of art and craft at institutions across the country. Throughout her artistic career, Danielle Brensinger has explored her voice through various techniques involving glass and mixed media. Danielle previously lived in Brooklyn, New York where she worked as a freelance glassblower, artist assistant and educator out of UrbanGlass. Currently living in Los Angeles, California, she recently completed her Masters of Fine Art at California State University at San Bernardino. #WheatonArts #MillvilleNJ #CGCAFellowship #2025CGCAFellowship #Glassblowing #Flameworking #GlassArt #KilnCasting

If you’re heading to NYC for the @thearmoryshow etc this coming week, one of @hyperallergic ’s top picks is “Other of Pearl” on @governorsisland , featuring @abearnot and my collaborative project “Whale Bells.” … Apparently people keep stealing the ferry posters with this photo of our work taken by @julienneschaer . I’ll take it as a compliment. 😅

CALIBRATION MATRIX, my first solo show with @engageprojects opens this Saturday! Nearly two-years in the making, it will focus on new sculptural works in glass. If you are in Chicago please join me for the opening reception, 6-8PM. Image description: A thin, opalescent glass spiral photographed against a matte black background creates a drawing-like effect.
