@ATMOS featuring Bio couture designer
@pierodangelodesign . Absolute dream to create this one.
D’Angelo explores how natural materials and Biodesign can be used to create new, innovative textiles and contribute towards slow fashion.
D’Angelo routinely works with slime mold and lichens, a composite organism composed by a symbiotic partnership between fungi and photosynthetic organisms like algae. Lichens are commonplace in the natural world; diverse in color, pattern, and texture; and serve as important indicators of environmental health. They can also thrive in a wide range of environments, making them optimal for experimental biodesign. The result is what D’Angelo describes as "grow your own couture"—garments that change color, texture, and shape as the organisms expand and develop.
