The Greatest Vertical Descent on a Mountain Bike World Record // Riding from an altitude of 6327m, I finally reached sea level at the Pacific Ocean yesterday 🙌 Being honest, this was one of the toughest challenges to date. The conditions in the high mountains here are so brutal, it’s like nothing should be able to survive. The air is thin, dry and incessantly windy but thankfully the scenery for my 370km ride to the sea was pretty insane.
.
Riding through 250km of totally wild desert, there is nothing at all - no people, no shops and no water sources. With quickly dwindling supplies, it became clear the best option was going to double down and push on through the night or I’d run out of both food and water.
.
Naturally after 5 days of climbing to almost 7000m, I was pretty beat so had to dig deep. After 3 riding days from Ojos, it feels awesome to be breathing normal air and not to mention grab a shower!
.
Thanks so much for all of the support, I’ll share some more of my journey on stories and hopefully in due course a short film too. In the meantime, you’ll find me sipping a piña colada on the beach 🏖️✌️🍹 🇨🇱

A L P I N E R E F U G E S 📖 From traditional stone cottages to sleek, sky-touching shelters, Alpine Refuges traces 30 extraordinary mountain sanctuaries worldwide. A celebration of human ingenuity where architecture meets adventure 🏔️

It was both a challenge and a privilege to visit and photograph all these huts over just one winter. Seeing your work in print is always a pleasure and I hope, in turning the pages of Alpine Refuges, you find the same quiet awe that carried me through this journey and maybe it’ll inspire you to seek out a few of these remarkable places for yourself.

H A U T E R O U T E I N A D A Y 🙌 What a crazy day or so it’s been... To say the Haute route non-stop has been a life goal for me would be no exaggeration. It’s been something I’ve been working towards all winter, and I’m over the moon to have made it from Chamonix to Zermatt in 31 hours. Thanks so much for all the kind messages, they massively helped keep me moving when times were tough. And a huge thank you to @gotta_be_kt for being support Mom and @markjameschase for taking crackers like this 📸 If anyone needs me, I’ll be sleeping for a week ✌️
124.3km / 7547m ascent / 13,500 calories burnt 🥵

Alpine Refuges — behind the mountain lens
“We’re well into May now, a time when conditions are neither ideal for skiing nor quite right for alpinism yet. Still, I’m here with a mission: photographing my favourite refuges and bivouacs over a single winter season”
An astonishing journey through 30 alpine refuges and bivouacs, captured and narrated by Aaron Rolph. Now live on the ATK blog 🔗

One of those dream lines on the remote side of the Mont Blanc massif. Amazing ambience, a beautiful sustained steep couloir and a fun bivouac overnight to go with it. Head to YouTube for the full episode of the Grand Ski Tour to see more ⛷️ @davejsearle
Thanks to @freerideworldtour & @georgiatravel for putting on such a fun week in Mestia. Unfortunately the competition couldn’t go ahead due to snow stability, but it was a banger all the same. First time visiting the Svaneti region but definitely not the last ⛷️
Conditions are complicated out in the Alps at the moment, definitely the time to take extra care but nice to get up high between the big storms rolling in, & spindrift always makes for some cool pics 🤷♂️💨
New playground unlocked @theicestmoritz 🏎️💨 A lot of fun photographing such an insane collection of rare cars, and nice to see them being driven hard too. I’d still take the group B Quattro over the supercars any day 🤤
Lap after lap out hunting for the goods for @skiclubgb Hidden gem might be a push, but Monterosa has amazing terrain, easy access to the big mountains and is still pretty off the radar. 4 days after snowfall, we could still find plenty of good stuff ⛷️

Top fun as always. charging around with my old pal and his big camera 🎥 @paddybartram
