Previewed the #weekendchorepant by @matchymatchysewingclub in a midweight soft canvas in a khaki colour from @fabrictimesolutionsltd . Had this fabric in my stash, it’s extra from when I made up some cushion covers a few years back. Made a size XS waist graded to an S at the hips. I really like how roomy these pants are. With lotsa pockets!! The front seam is a nice lil feature and you could do some fun colour blocking with these! This was my first time making a matchy matchy sewing pattern. Super easy sew with detailed instructions! Sewed them up over a few short sewing sessions this weekend. Would recommend 💞

A simple scarf in seed stitch made up with two skeins of @sandnesgarn merino wool in what I think is the perfect red ❤️ As seems to be the case with all my knitting projects, this took ~5 years from start to completion! Also wearing two of my fave makes: #pptopstitch jacket by @puff_and_pencil and #coetrouser by @daughterjudypatterns

Full tour and some process pics and asmr of the junk trunk pattern by @thefunctionalsewingproject with all materials from @refastencanada Lots of pockets and fun details and some tough spots to maneuver on my machine but oh so satisfying :-) See my last post for all the details.

My first foray into #myog with the junk trunk pattern by @thefunctionalsewingproject I was kindly given all the materials to make this project by @refastencanada 🙂 check them out for all your gear making needs!! Super impressed with the fabric and high quality notions (webbing, grommets, ribbon, various buckles, shock cord, aquaguard zipper, Velcro, foam, etc.). I used xpac x11 in storm grey for the outer fabric (waterproof duck cotton!) and ultragrid in blue wave (waterproof recycled nylon) for the lining. Both fabrics are lightweight but sturdy and durable. I added some vintage patches from @dressew to personalize the bag a bit more. This bag can be used as a handlebar or saddle bag. It is super functional with a lotta great details. Making this bag was a pretty intensive but enjoyable process. Excited to try it out bikepacking next summer :-)

Looooooving my new #cowriekini and forever feeling weird about sharing pics in a bathing suit 🙃 Made up the seamless version in poppy red swim fabric from @dressew . Top is size D, bottoms are E hip graded to a D waist - with a bit more shaved off the waist after my first try on. I originally made the top with a B front and D back (small bust adjustment) but it turned out too teeny so I remade it using my size based on the size chart. @paradisepatterns

Alright folks I made another pair of jeans and they still are and forever will be my favourite type of garment to make. I wear jeans most days and nothing beats having a pair that fits your body right and is in a fun fabric 💫 These are the #mmheroine jeans by @merchantandmills . I made a 6 waist (with a bit more taken in at waist upon first try on) and graded to 8 hip, which is smaller than had I followed the sizing chart. The intended fit of this pattern has more ease, but I’ve sized down bc I like this fit! I’ve made these 4 or 5 times now and can crank em out pretty quick now without mods. Otherwise only other change I made was to make a lil criss cross with the back belt loops to play on the stripes! Fabric is a fun lighter weight (guessing 8-9 oz) secondhand denim from @oursocialfabric . Super stoked on all the pattern matching with the stripes on the yoke, leg pieces and pockets!

Some pics of my #pphalter made from a thrifted cotton men’s button-up, lined with an old duvet cover. I also re-used the buttons from the original shirt. Made a size small, but shaved a bit off the upper bust pieces on the outer sides as it was sitting too wide. I’m thinking I could have sized down. Chose to do a different back closure than the pattern called for (I didn’t want to do button loops! I did a somewhat sloppy job at the back but I was in a rush and I’m a sloppy sewist ok!) and used a D-ring for the halter closure because I love to use a D-ring where I can!! I love the curved front hem of this pattern and the scarf option. Great pattern by @puff_and_pencil 💗 I accidentally used the wrong fabric marker so there will be blue lines all over this thing until I wash it - please ignore :-)

New shorts that I love! These are modified #ppversa by @puff_and_pencil in nylon taslan from a charity sale in Calgary. Also wearing the #mmsunshinehalter by @_madmakes in athletic fabric from @dressew For the shorts, I graded from S waist to M hip. After wearing them for a few days, I decided to remove about an inch from the centre back rise as the back was sitting higher than the front at the waist. I pinched out fabric in the back with pins and removed that much. I sewed inside out for the side seams and bias bound the raw edges with bias tape. I learned this genius construction method from @evan.ihde and @caitsnyd_sews ! Inseam length is about 6.5 inches.

My second #genrashirt in deadstock @abronzeage cotton shirting from @blackbirdfabrics with subtly pink buttons from @dressew . One of my fave parts of sewing is pairing fabric with project, and I think this is a good fit :-) I love sewing button ups. The yoke, the sleeve pleats, the placket, the curved hem - so satisfying when it comes together. Made up a size small!

Getting more into knits! Made this off the shoulder top in baby rib from @oursocialfabric . Pattern is new look, year unsure. I made view E which doesn’t come off as off the shoulder in the pattern drawing as it is irl. The sizing was way off and a lot of mods were required - gonna try and size down 2 or 3 sizes next time. Not sure why these pics made my body look so long and my head so smol 🥲 I tried to show off the straight stretch stitch I used on my janome for the neck and arm hems in the video. Love how clean it looks on knits! I left the bottom hem raw as I like the length. Also, had to include my drama queen judging me at the end.
