Rising star of the UK jazz scene, clarinet player and vocalist @giuliamarro comes together with @_tomward and @jack__jules (and friends!) for a closing party at our local favourite @thescolthead
Having studied under jazz heavyweights at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal Conservatoire the Hague, Benjamin Herman and Mike Williams, Giulia’s playing is steeped in tradition. Inspired by the swing era and the composers of this time, Giulia’s original music has reflections of Barney Bigard and Jimmy Giuffre.
Tom Ward is a virtuosic piano player making waves on the UK jazz scene. Inspired by piano hero’s, Art Tatum, Fats Waller and Teddy Wilson, Tom’s stride playing is rooted within the piano tradition whilst remaining fresh. He’s back this year after two incredible gigs at our festival last year - one at St Peter’s Church with Adrian Cox Trio and the other with Giacomo Smith’s band at the Scolt Head.
Composer, Arranger and multi-instrumentalist from East London, Jack Jules joins the two. Having come through organisations such as Tomorrow’s Warriors and NYJO, his work is shaped by a fascination with the intersection of musical genres, spanning contemporary jazz, early New Orleans music, folk traditions and electronic groove-based music. Currently studying Composition at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Jack is emerging as an exciting voice on the London music scene, known for his sophisticated and unique compositions and arrangements, and wide-ranging musical eclecticism. As a performing jazz musician, he regularly performs at venues and festivals including the Royal Albert Hall, We Out Here Festival, The Jazz Cafe, 91 Living Room and the Barbican Centre.
