American jazz legend Chuck Redd will be performing just over the bridge from Battersea at Sands End Arts and Community Centre on Friday 18th October! Chuck, who was the drummer for the great Charlie Byrd for 19 years, will be a part of a Brazilian music-themed programme which will highlight his involvement in the development of Bossa Nova, samba and more in America. Guitarist Will Arnold-Forster will be alongside him, and in the second half vocalist Hugo Jennings will join to sing tunes from the Sinatra-Jobim collaborations and other repertoire. Tickets on the SEACC website! Chuck will also be performing on vibraphone at Pizza Express Dean Street on Saturday 19th October at 1pm. He will be joined by fellow vibraphonist Nat Steele (featured at this year’s Battersea Jazz Festival with “Shades of Shearing”) in a concert celebrating Terry Gibbs and Milt Jackson.
