SOME GIRLS I’ve been keeping my art and my spiritual world somewhat separate for quite some time — at least on this platform. Today, I’ve decided to integrate that part of me into this little social media world. It no longer makes sense to edit out the aspects of myself that play a pivotal role in my healing journey, spiritual growth, and not to mention, the joy of returning to making art again! Human existence is non-linear and multifaceted, I enjoy working with several mediums in my artwork. As a photographer and sculptor, I’ve always been interested in combining tactile media with photography and video. As a mystic, I approach artistic expression as more than just “art for art’s sake.” Instead, I use it as a form of meditative expression — a way of translating what I observe beyond the physical reality. This piece is a photographic collage created with various materials and no digital manipulation beyond a multi-exposure in-camera process. It was important to me to make the entire process as analog as possible. Using a combination of traditional Polaroid film (with an emulsion lift process), paper collages, digital photographs of The Rolling Stones record, tissue paper, a light box, and a bit of body movement what is when this piece was born. With this unique process, no two photos can ever be the same or duplicated—just like you and me. We are all unique, beautiful, and vibrant individuals. Through my work, I explore the philosophy that every place, person, and object carries a unique energetic blueprint. I enjoy capturing that energy or recreating my interpretation of places and people through this process. It gives me the freedom to express myself beyond simply using a camera to document physical reality. Instead, I use it as a tool to capture what lies beyond to capture how it makes me feel and the impression that it has left for me. This is my perspective, perception, and recollection of what Capitol Record Building means to me through the Akashic Fields. I believe that for our creativity to stay alive, we have to stay connected to the child inside us. Creativity doesn’t have to be fine art. We are creating our lives every day—through big moments and small ones. A friend of mine, @shamandurek , often reminds his friends and clients that when they feel stuck, the answer isn’t always to push harder. Sometimes the real shift happens when you step away, play, and reconnect with your inner child. 🤺PIERCE THE VEIL✨ “There are legends of people... born with the gift of making music so true, it can pierce the veil between life and death…This gift can bring healing to their communities but it also attracts evil”- Annie A long-overdue reflection on one of my favorite films of this awards season. In my view, “Sinners” should be this years’ Best Picture. It’s one of those rare films that refuses to fit neatly into a genre. It carves its own path, much like the protagonists at the center of the story. At first glance, it might look like a vampire film. But it’s far more than that. Despite the gore, I found it deeply spiritual, strangely uplifting, and extremely funny, not to mention that the comedic timing is impeccable! To me, the film is about people who refuse to live under any form of oppression or control. Whether it’s corrupt governments, organized religion, racism, or even the undead trying to drain the life from them, these characters stand together against anything that seeks to possess their bodies or souls. At its core, the film is about freedom: freedom to love, to create, and to simply exist as human beings. It’s about being ungovernable by any doctrine and embracing the radical act of being fully alive. Ironically, while the film deals with the undead, I felt wildly alive watching it. It’s raw, passionate, primal, and sexual, yet it carries a kind of wondrous innocence—innocence, not naïveté. The hearts of these protagonists remain wild and uncorrupted by the systems that try to control them and bamboozled them to stay small and settle for less out of fear. The real horror in this film isn’t the vampires. It’s what humans do to each other in the name of God or false righteousness. Weak people feeding on others through hatred and fear—diminishing anyone who refuses to conform, just so they can feel powerful and alive. The message of this film feels more relevant now than ever. Cherish love. Let’s piece the veil of separation and hatred together and protect the people who choose this brave path.
