Previous to the release of this mix, Nikki Pfeifer expressed that she wanted to share her recent experiences in Minneapolis with our audience: The government’s narrative that the surge is over is false. Federal agents continue to abduct our neighbors and the presence of federally sanctioned violence against our community has caused immense trauma, family separation, economic crisis and violations of civil and constitutional rights, in Minneapolis, across Minnesota communities, and across the nation. The community continues to put their lives on the line to protect one another, like we’ve seen with the execution of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. We are exhausted and outraged. Even though DHS is ending its large scale operation, the work here is not done. We maintain our ability to mobilize, pushing forward in solidarity Nikki Pfeifer wears many hats in the Minneapolis diy electronic community as a live pa artist, producer, promoter, DJ, and founder of the label imprint, BORA, and live pa series, Parallel Lounge. Pfeifer started making electronic music in 2014 under the moniker, Devata Daun, a soulful pitch-deviant pop project, and was also the former co-owner of Pytch Records, alongside Ryan Olcott. She currently carries her sound under two projects, nectar and Tekk Nikk, infused with hypnotic ambience, dubby techno, heavy acid, and electro.

There’s a few different times in the mix the groove totally shifts or the BPM’s have drastic changes, so I used ambient tracks to help blend it together and it was fun to figure that out on the fly while focusing on 4x4 for the first half of the mix and then making a pivot to half tempo. I think about the health of our planet every damn day. Ever since I was a child, I was filled with dread passing by landfills, what we throw away in the trash, what toxins we release into our water, the air, what leaches into the earth. Where will we be without our planet, healthy soil to grow food, clean water to drink, clean air to breathe. I am so grateful to be a part of this local community in Minneapolis where we do not stand down and we continue in this imperative resistance against the fascist evil decision makers that want to silence us, remove us, take our tax dollars to fund war and genocide, and take sacred land to build pollution centers that wreak havoc on our health and future. I’m devastated but feeling hopeful in our community all at once, and I hope to see you at May Day to come together and share space, sunshine and to reflect on why we are here on this planet, with love, and to heal ❤️‍🩹

Big life update, I bought a house in Mpls ◡̈ What a tumultuous and expansive past five months it has been, between coming together with neighbors on the ground keeping feds from abducting our neighbors, helping a displaced family, I also turned 40 yrs old, and am going through a breakup. Through the uncertainty and turmoil, there can also be blessings to experience and celebrate. Don’t forget to celebrate. I couldn’t have done all of this without my beloved friends and family readily available to be there for support, offering advice, f2f and ♡2♡ time, a shoulder to cry on, many warm embraces to know that I’m cared for, opening up their homes to me in times of need and respite, and offering love and resources. Community is everything, lean on them, and let them lean on you. Keep showing up and nurturing these really important relationships with each other. Protect one another, go out of your way to help out, get out of your comfort zone, and don’t lose focus on your own needs while being a part of this imperative resistance.

Thinkin bout the sun, the fields, and the summer heat. Very honored to be a part of @greatbeyondmn again this year. This lineup, oh my gaaawd.
