𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟮 of the @_water_lab__ research focused on 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴. Developed simultaneously with the geomorphological research, this stage examined distinct but interconnected layers: riparian vegetation, aquatic and terrestrial fauna, micro-habitats and the ecological relationships shaping these environments beyond their mineral structure. Traversing areas in the Făgăraș Mountains and the Vidraru region, the research followed beaver habitats, bird ecosystems, abandoned and ageing fisheries, as well as mountain watercourses dense with fish populations, algae formations, aquatic micro-organisms and insect life. The observations focused on how biodiversity continuously adapts to altitude, humidity, sediment movement and seasonal transformation. Structured across parallel layers of investigation, the project approaches mountain rivers as complex living systems where geology, vegetation, climate and biological life remain in continuous interaction. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭 of the @_water_lab__ research in Transylvania focused on the 𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴. Over the past days, we explored areas of the Făgăraș Mountains, the Vidraru region and the nearby Olt estuarine area, observing sedimentation structures, alluvial formations and the mineral dynamics shaping these aquatic landscapes. The research moved between field observation, sampling, image documentation and sensory mapping, following how water continuously models matter, surfaces and ecological transitions across mountain river environments. Water_LAB is an experimental laboratory dedicated to the artistic interpretation of aquatic ecosystems. It proposes a form of artistic production grounded in research projects developed by the DALA Foundation and its partners, bringing together scientific resources from spatial analysis, landscape history, anthropogenic transformation, benthic community studies, riparian vegetation research and geomorphological dynamics. The methodology focuses on two protected sites and two distinct aquatic ecosystems: the Cârțișoara River and Sacalin Island. Through this comparative framework, Water_LAB explores how riverine and deltaic–coastal environments can be observed, translated and communicated through contemporary artistic, educational and multisensory formats. The project will include research sessions, workshops and collaborative field investigations, leading to a public exhibition and presentation programme taking place in the autumn. One week ago, part of the 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿_𝗟𝗔𝗕 team arrived in the Comana Natural Park—a wetland often described as the Neajlov Delta. Unlike the Danube Delta, this inland ecosystem operates as a low-energy delta: seasonal floods generate temporary micro-lakes, oxygen gradients shape invisible microbial worlds, while dense reed networks function as a living filtration infrastructure. The wetland spans ~24,963 hectares and includes over 30 km of water channels, supporting ~20 fish species, over 140 bird species and more than 1,100 plant species, with extensive reed beds (Phragmites australis) playing a measurable role in nutrient retention and water purification. This pre-research stage marked an initial field testing of equipment and methodologies that will be further deployed across the Danube Delta and mountain river systems. Artists worked directly within the site, gathering environmental data and observing the specific conditions of this aquatic ecosystem—its shifting thresholds between land and water and its layered sensory registers. Part of the team, including @sillyconductor , engaged with sound and environmental capture techniques, exploring how subtle variations in humidity, vegetation, daytime and water movement produce distinct acoustic and atmospheric signatures. Framed within the research layer with biologists and video & sound artists, developed from seven sampling stations between the Water Plant (Uzina de Apă) and the village of Otelec, this video work uses microscopy and macro-imaging to reveal the world of aquatic macroinvertebrates. Their presence and diversity provide essential information about the ecological health of the Bega River. ON AIR - atelier de radio jurnalism Timp de două zile consecutive, am găzduit un atelier intensiv de radio-jurnalism care a adus la aceeași masă liceeni și studenți de la arte și arhitectură, și invitați cu experiență directă în lucrul cu sunetul, documentarea culturală, muzica și societatea - Mihai Lukacs și Paul Breazu (Arhiva de Sunet), Ionuț Dulămiță (Scena 9) și Cătălin Matei (Sillyconductor). Am vorbit despre valoarea radioului comunitar și despre formate de emisiuni care să facă auzite vocile cele mai tăcute, sau absente, din discursurile mainstream. Am discutat despre cum se construiește un material jurnalistic, cum funcționează logotonurile, sunetele și structura unei emisiuni, și am intrat într-o parte ptractică compusă din înregistrări, editări, lucru hands-on și experiment. Pentru că la atelier au participat și liceeni de la @liceul.de.arte.plasticetm , implicați recent în piesa de teatru „Atestat”, coordonați de  prof. Horațiu Cristian Pavelescu (Asociația Artdendum), am intrat firesc în zona de teatru radiofonic și ambient sonor. Ne bucurăm să vedem cum Mini Library Show prinde contur, cu cât mai multe voci, perspective și experimente, și ne pregătim, încet, încet, să fim și on-air. Mulțumim tuturor celor care au venit, în ciuda ultimelor examene și predări, și îmbrățișând atmosfera de extenuare generală dată de acest an, vă dorim sărbători liniștite!🎄 Atelierul a făcut parte din Mini Library Show, proiect finanțat de Municipiul Timișoara prin @centruldeproiecte și co-finanțat de @fondul_cultural_national . „Proiectul nu reprezintă în mod necesar poziţia AFCN; responsabilitatea conținutului aparține beneficiarului.”
