Last week. The fun part is that all I need is a nose and some notes. However, through blurred, unfocused shots, the camera mimics my smelling sessions more than words could. Pre-research moods in the Neajlov Delta for @_water_lab__

𝘢𝘈’𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦-𝘶𝘱 𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘥. What began as a still object in an exhibition slowly turned into a ping-pong dialogue — somehow reminding me of the anonymous exchanges in Wim Wenders’ 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘋𝘢𝘺𝘴. Fingermarks, then leveling, marks again — even insect trails. Leveling again. Even a logo. Constant leveling done for three weeks. I realized it rather amused me far more than it distressed me — and at some point, I entered the mysterious dialogue myself, as a faithful fan of Wenders’ Tokyo shots and of synchronicities as phenomena. I read these marks as a sensible human response to the work, a return to a certain earthbound, childhood playfulness. You can’t really compete with the tactile joy of immersing your 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯 into something so fragile and inviting, can you? Perhaps it’s an almost redeeming urge to leave marks on a soft, blank surface, primordial element — one that seems to tensely ask for them. At the finissage, sand was deliberately left open for interventions. Thank you @boccdan_emotivo for convincing me to let go of the meaning assigned to the sand and to return the material, in its natural state of meaning, to the visitors. I watched the real joy of touching, sensing and marking the carefully hand-leveled sand. _ ‘𝗮𝗔’ photographic print, metal, sand, scented soap (2025) 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀. 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 — 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻. A shape meant to contain that begins to imitate what it fears. Intimacy is lost — in reality, intimacy is exacerbated — in the work. “𝘗𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴”, they say — aA as both abbreviation and power play. 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲-𝘂𝗽 𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱. The much-debated “nude” color, viewed through lens of territoriality. 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗮𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗼, 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗮𝗽𝘀. The scent is naturally occurring — this time the focus is on the meaning of the smells, not on a custom-made perfume. * YOUNG PEOPLE CREATIVE WORKSHOPS ‘Skin, My First Map’ On Saturday, 06.12, we invite children to discover their own “skin map” — a personal territory of colors, textures and imagination. We begin with a conversation about the skin: its functions, how it protects us, the memories it carries and how we feel it. Each child then receives a small cloth scarf that becomes the ground for their map. Through drawing, gluing, collage or adding small textile elements, children create an imaginary skin shaped by how they see or dream it. In the end, this textile map becomes a gentle gesture of care: the children wrap it around a small surprise box containing a natural skin-care blend, suitable for their age. Each participant leaves with a unique creation, an emotional map and a scented gift that keeps the story of their skin closer.
