Hermès opening in Nashville with Jack White, Alison Mosshart, Dominic John Davis, Fats Kaplin, and a selected cast of @hermes artisans from France. Jack White’s first garage-punk band was called The Upholsterers. A craftsman himself, he began working as an upholstery apprentice in 1991 and earned a living this way for many years, before closing his original Detroit workshop to focus on music and touring. Based in Nashville for the past twenty years, he still keeps a workshop beside his studio. A place where craft and music continue to exist side by side. A few months ago, we opened a casting call across all Hermès workshops throughout France, looking for artisans who also play music and share a love of rock, folk, country, blues, and beyond. Seven were brought together to form a band for this occasion, working on a commissioned song produced by Jack White - recorded in Nashville, pressed on vinyl at Third Man, and performed live one month later with special guests. ‘In Full Color’ Produced by Jack White @officialjackwhite Written and performed by Alison Mosshart @amosshart Directed by Dominic John Davis @dominicjohndavis Recorded and mixed by Bill Skibbe in Nashville Mastered by Warren Defever @xoxowar Manufactured at Third Man in Detroit @thirdmanrecords The Hermès artisan-musicians: Guitar: Laura (Saddler leather craftswoman) Guitar: Morgan (Saddler leather craftsman) Bass: Djameldine (Atelier supervisor) Drums: Yann (Saddler leather craftsman) Vocals: Perrine (Cutter) Vocals, guitar, harmonica: Roman (Saddler leather craftsman) Keys, organ: Jean-Marc (Saddler leather craftsman) Special guests: Vocals, guitar: Jack White Vocals: Alison Mosshart Drums: Patrick Keeler @keelerpatrick Keys, organ: Bobby Emmett @thebobbyemmett Pedal steel, banjo, fiddle: Fats Kaplin @fatskaplin Bass, double bass: Dominic John Davis Opening performance: Namir Blade @namirblade Images: Vincent Tullo (1,6,7,8,9) @vincenttullo Benjamin Malapris (2,3,4,5,10) @benjaminmalapris@emmafolzr @carleencapp @malachinyc @jennaraehull @carlscrush @nicolelaurenkniep @gregoirediehl @anthonyhollis4 @maya_alvrz_ @jm.fouque @jonathonbeck @rachsackett
