SONNET 38 🙌
I wrote this last September and immediately knew I needed to create my own lyrics with this melody and groove. I promptly started writing and recording not just this song, but an entire album (“Strange City”) and never recorded the sonnet. It was strange to go back to the source this week: I’ve added so much to the song in the past months, but I wanted the sonnet to retain its original form and simplicity. It’s about the poetry.

and Happy “Birthday” Shakespeare!
Sonnet 37 reminded me of a musical theater moment - think “Bring Him Home” from Les Mis - so I wrote accordingly.
Writing music to Shakespeare’s sonnets continues to be one of the creative highlights of my life. I’m especially excited for the ones coming up (already written, I’m just behind in posting).
We most definitely need some Shakespeare in our lives right now.
