Today would have been my late pops’ birthday. To mark the occasion, I’m sharing a recording of Lydia Saylor, an opera singer, performing “Keeping Things Whole” — a poem by my dad that was set to music by her father, composer Bruce Saylor. It’s a beautiful way to hear his words come to life again.

In a field
I am the absence
of field.
This is
always the case.
Wherever I am
I am what is missing.
When I walk
I part the air
and always
the air moves in
to till the spaces
where my body’s been.
We all have reasons
for moving.
I move

Stoked is an understatement. All those years ago sitting at Cafe Racer dreaming about improvisational live painting, a friend mentioned @abbeyarts and The Round. I inquired the next day, learned of @nathanmarion and what he created at The Fremont Abbey. My life hasn’t been the same since.
