We pray for the repose of the soul of Juniper Blessing, the 19-year-old trans woman who was murdered; and we pray for an end to all forms of gender-based violence, especially violence against trans people.

We were honored to host @ricksteveseurope and Lutheran Bishop @shelwee last Sunday for The Traveler & The Bishop on the State of American Democracy & Christian Nationalism. With two sold out events, it was a powerful evening and we’re grateful to Rick and Bishop Shelley for sharing their insights, enthusiasm, and hope with all in attendance. #EpiscopalChurch #AffirmingChurch #NoKings
Looking back on an incredible weekend at Saint Mark's. Thank you to the 2,500 people who joined us for Cathedral Day, where Bishop Phil and Bishop Melissa offered the rites of confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation of baptismal cows to over 100 people, including 19 from Saint Mark's; and to all those who joined us for the Traveler and the Bishop, where Rick Steves and Bishop Shelly Bryan Wee spoke passionately about the blasphemy of Christian nationalism, and how we might beat witness to the love of God in these times.
And a special thank you to all the clergy, staff, and volunteers who made all this possible.
Wherever you are in the Diocese of Olympia, and wherever you are on your journey of faith, thank you for making Saint Mark's Episcopal Cathedral your spiritual home.

That was a looooong procession! Parishes across the diocese traveled to Saint Mark’s to witness over 100 people confirmed, received into the Episcopal Church, and reaffirm their baptismal vows.
“In our opening prayer this morning, we prayed that we might hear and know the voice of Jesus - the Good Shepherd who calls us each by name, and then follow where he leads.
“Easier said than done sometimes. But here are a few hints from someone who has been around the ‘sheepfold’ for a while.
“Listen for the voice that cares for your safety, but also for the safety of those beyond your borders.
“Listen for a voice that is more interested in gates that let people in than in walls that keep people out.
“Listen for a voice that dares you to be generous - to live abundantly.
“Listen for a voice that sees the whole world as God’s house and treats it as such.
“Perhaps above all, listen for a voice that instills calm and inspires you with courage, strength.
“Listen for that voice, and Jesus cannot possibly be far away.
“In the name of the One who leads us out to open pastures, but also welcomes us back home. Amen.”
The Reverend Canon Emily Griffin, sermon for Sunday April 26 2026.

On April 16, the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE) at Seattle University shared a letter in support of Pope Leo, entitled "Fearless Leo: What a Pope Invites Us to Be." Among the many interfaith signatories, including some good friends of Saint Mark's Cathedral, is Dean Thomason, who invites you to read the letter at the link in the bio.
