Glasgow Coffee Festival 2026 🏴☕️
Spent the day with @iicommon x @fiveacresstandrews on the True Artisan Cafe stand meeting new folk, and having great chats - the amount of folk mentioning it being their first festival was class, and just wanting to experience something a bit different
Took some time to explore the rest of the festival, tasted some beaut coffees, seen some friendly faces and met folk I’ve only ever spoken to to online, which is cool- @jaidecoffee 🙌

Coffee Cupping? Aye, why not ☕️
I find cupping events can be a bit intimidating - unspoken expectations, unfamiliar terminology and let’s not chat about the slurp
It can be a lot to take in… especially if you’ve not attended many and feeling a bit on the periphery!
Going along with a pal can be a game-changer, because it helps breaks down barriers, and the result? A lovely evening, few chats with new folk, and doing something a bit different ☕️

📍 Calle Santa Matía Micaela 4, Madrid

@dokutokucafe is a Japanese-inspired coffee spot in the middle of Madrid, but feels quite far removed once you’re inside
.
Small, minimal space, everything was super intentional - was quite relaxing watching them brewing different coffees especially with it being quite early and not being much distraction
.
I went for a wee long black, roasted by @holacoffee and was lovely - super balanced and just set me up for a morning wandering around without having too much on that day
.
If you don’t know its there, can be easily missed but worth the visit if looking for something a wee bit different 🇪🇸☕️

☕️ Dalston Coffee
.
📍 Carrer de les Ramelleres
. @dalstoncoffee roast their own beans and been about nearly 10 years! Seating is limited but the coffee is top notch serving up few different espresso, and batch - light bites and pastries on the menu too - cold brew, had a nice acidity, sweet, well balanced - was a natural Ethiopian 🍋

Guy behind the bar was sound, had a wee about chat about their coffee, which helped me decide what to go for and I ended up picking up a cap - sucker for a bit of coffee merch 🇪🇸☕️

@sip.coffeeroasters runs as a coffee shop / roastery focusing on Ethiopian and Colombian origins; I visited the El Ravel location, however there’s a few in the city 🤙

Interiors are sleek, barista’s dead on, and a record player on the side bar playing different records – Cigarettes After Sex we’re playing when I popped in
.
I grabbed a filter to have in, washed Ethiopian, citrusy, bright and not too dissimilar to lemon sherbets 🇪🇸☕️

Location 2 of nomad is at the top end of La Rambla - inspired by Italian coffee culture; minimal by design, espresso bar focus, and not much seating, brings the focus to the barista, their craft and the brew bar - more of a grab n go spot, given the size of space
.
I ordered a long black, it was delicious, my face says it all!

It’s a must visit, especially if you’re in and around that area - save this post for your next visit to BCN 🇪🇸☕️

One location, but worth the visit wherever you are in the city - class vibe with plenty of seats inside and outside!
.
Nice variety of coffee menu, with different 3 espresso’s,
batch and cold brew, and the baked goods are not to be missed ☕️
.
I got a batch to go, which was anaerobic natural from Indonesia, and remember it tasting like skittles - was delicious 🌈
.
Highly recommend for a coffee, cookie and chill out time 🇪🇸 ☕️

Three locations in the city, this is, from my experience the most busy and definitely lends itself to more of a grab n go, especially if you like to sit, people watch, and have a bit of a chill!
.
With that said the level of detail the team share when speaking with customers is top tier, and watching them work together was magic ✨
.
On this occasion, I picked up a filter coffee, was a natural Ethiopian, pretty fruity, juicy and nice sweetness - lovely filter 🫐
.
Hands down, one of the best coffees I had when in Barcelona

Class wee bakery in the middle of Gràcia, serving up sweet n savoury baked goods, paired nicely with their house espresso from @slow.mov
.
The space is compact, perfect for a grab n go, but behind the bar is the bakery with everything being prepped onsite using ancient grains and organic ingredients only
.
Fun fact, the owner, Francois, worked 10 years at Google, was inspire by Tartine Bakery in San Fran, quit his job, worked in Paris and used his experience to open Orgio in 2018 ☕️ 🇪🇸

Part coffee bar, micro-roaster, and chocolatier, with both beans and cacao being sourced from Peru 🇵🇪
.
The space is a refurbed 19th century building with beaut tiling, brew bar as the focal point, with the kitchen extending to the back of the space, and roasting near the front entrance.

I went for a filter, super smooth, chocolatey notes super heightened, clean - was delicious
.
Also, got chatting to @_fabianazerillo who was working behind the bar, super brief but always appreciate the small interactions .

The mission behind ONYVA is one a lot of people can get behind - helping more folk enjoy speciality coffee, without needing to know the nitty gritty 🙌

How it all started? Personally I love finding out what ‘sparked’ the idea… so what started as a mid-cycle coffee turned into a daily ritual, which spiralled into a ‘let’s create a space where more people can enjoy the simple pleasures together’, and just like that, ONYVA was born 🚴♀️
