Meet Isabelle Enquist, one of the curators of On the Verge / On the Cusp, currently on view at PAUSE/FRAME, open Thurs–Sun, 12–6 pm. Isabelle is a London-based creative practitioner, curator, and researcher from Zagreb, Croatia. Partly influenced by Balkan culture of conviviality and event-based artistic programming, her practice aims to choreograph meaningful encounters and feed curiosity through interdisciplinary inquiry. As a recent graduate of the Royal College of Art’s Curating Contemporary Art MA Programme, her primary inquiry is into experimental media and participatory programming.
Informed by her personal background in dance, she believes in durational, process-driven collaborations and programming as generative ways of honing curiosity and care.
Isabelle’s experience across different art fairs, cultural events, and art departments urges her to think about the dynamics between creators, audiences, and organizers, as well as the effect that de-hierarchising knowledge systems has on performing social structure, process, and outcome.
Opening tonight 5pm, featuring performances from 7pm at PAUSE/FRAME in The Broadway, Wimbledon with work by @fan_bangyu@two.eight_@mzhyff@tildalahiffart@_sianais____________@paula_parole@charlotworthington & @evayatesss
Curated by Jacqueline Schwartz, Aurelia Cowan & Isabelle Enquist.

As we stay “On the verge”, we near the brink of collapse. There is fear in motion, a breath is caught and held, and the breaking point makes itself known. In contrast, “on the cusp” signals the hopeful promise of the uncertain, the fragile passage towards clarity. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences of uncertainty —whether facing emotional crossroads, moments of catharsis, or navigating life transitions—this exhibition explores the generative potential between belonging and un-belonging, creation and doubt, and the personal and external structures that shape transformation. Bringing together painting, sculpture, installation, and performance, the artists respond to concepts of change and uncertainty in regards to gender expression, youth culture, intergenerational communication, and the interior shifts of the human psyche.
Exhibition Announcement 📣 On the Verge / On the Cusp 🔮 asks what does it mean to be on the precipice of change? Is it about the potential for renewal, or the looming possibility of letdown? Showcasing eight London-based emerging artists, the exhibition explores transformative moments of flux informed by fem and non-binary experiences.

Join us for the opening event on Saturday 1st February from 5pm! This exhibition will be on display at PAUSE/FRAME (194 The Broadway SW19 1RY), located in the KOPPEL Broadway building in Wimbledon.
PAUSE/FRAME is The Koppel Project’s gallery initiative aiming to find innovative ways to produce engaging exhibitions that challenge the systemic barriers often blocking creative efforts. Our goal with this space is to expand our audiences and communities, working to survive within the current funding climate in the arts and the difficult structures that artists rely on for support!
