Tomorrow marks the release of Place: Toronto, a 23 track VA curated by @ciel_dj for NYC’s @airtexture What is Place: a location specific electronic music compilation series where all proceeds are donated to local groups working on important causes in that area such as environment, human rights, conflict aid, and support. a non profit project from Air Texture. () Culturally Toronto has always been dictated by diaspora, characterized by an amorphous sound, at times difficult to place. This VA highlights the genre fluid nature of the space, a snapshot of this moment. I’m honoured to open the release with Ether Song, a piece written in Autumn 2024, gently swaying. Though producing quite a bit over the years I am just beginning to put stuff out, this being the first under Kaspr . Supa grateful for the love received so far. Standard Time welcomes Ewan McVicar and Nautiluss b2b Kaspr! Ewan McVicar is doing things differently. He’s not following any existing blueprints, nor is he adding a filter to what you see. As a result, DJ Mag’s recently crowned Best British DJ is taking the electronic scene by storm. If you combine the spirit and ethos of the rave generation with a forward-thinking approach to music, vivacious energy and drive to push things in the right direction, you end up with McVicar. Ewan’s popularity as a selector and performer is arguably the strongest part of his arsenal and with one of the most engaged and active fanbases in the world, his sell-out shows prove to be one of the biggest draws in dance music. Graham (Nautiluss) and Karim’s (Kaspr) B2B legacy had humble beginnings. The two were at a wedding pre-party for their friend Frazer (TRP co-founder) & Patricia (DJ Club Fitness) which had some CDJs set up for music as many of the guests were DJs. Karim had neglected to bring a USB key and so Graham offered to let Karim use his. It was then discovered that their was an ocean-wide overlap between their collections and so it was a very organic discovery of compatibility. Since then they have done at least a half dozen B2B’s together: one at the inaugural B.O.O.T fest and most of the rest at Toronto’s infamous grotto, Bambi’s. Most of their sets have been very eclectic but usually heavily centered around the Hardcore Continuum but the result has always been sweaty dancefloors and catharsis. Thursday June 26, 2025 Nu-Position presents: @motion_ward (LA) @raf.reza (Live) @__kaspr (DJ) 22:00 – 03:00hr @bambistoronto - 1265 Dundas St West In the cacophony of the 4 to the floor, it’s often difficult to find space for the ineffable and uncategorizable. Motion Ward and its endlessly giving catalogue have been a safe haven for us, looking for something that takes us beyond the more immediate, at times psychoneural, hookings of electronic music. Consider it a cloudy, murky, and goopy primordial soup of sounds, working together to create the abstract yet gentle grip of the label’s output over the last 10 years. The label is heavily tuned to dubwise atmospherics, trip hop tickles, post-rock antics while maintaining a forward, dare we say motion. We are delighted to host label head Jesse Sappell for a one night special highlighting all the sonic possibilities and intentions of the label channeled through the dancefloor Kaspr will set the foundation leading into a Live Set from Raf Reza before we take off to explore with Jesse Tickets via Resident Advisor, and at the door <3
