STASIS(2024) Directed, Shot and Edited by @__grifff Special effects @ezekielmiles_ Ski @sveairving This project was just fun to create, we composed it utilizing two distinct visual mediums: 16mm film and a high-speed digital. This project was just fun to create, we composed it exploring two distinct visual mediums: 16mm film and a high-speed digital. For the creative, we shot almost entirely on a Bolex EL Mk I—one of the best run-and-gun 16mm rigs, perfectly suited for a project of this nature. The Bolex allowed us to work with minimal rigging and quick load/setup times, maximizing our shooting window. We still faced challenges, particularly in pushing the boundaries of what could be achieved without the latitude or attachment capabilities of a more studio-suited camera like the Arri 416 or SR3. But looking back, we were happy with the decisions we made to use the Bolex. For the entire piece, we shot on two glass elements. The Kern Vario-Switar 12.5mm-100mm f2 Multicoated Zoom Lens, and a Kern-Paillard 10mm Switar T1.6 with a 5m A big goal for this project was to create a full roster of practical effects, you'll notice some small moments in the piece that are all done on camera with no special effects. A few images you may see… Flower Color Stretching(1) Electric Current(1)(6) Goggle Lens Transition (5) Energy Helix(1) Solar Eclipse(10) Flower Electricity (6) Many of the action and macro moments were supported by the RED VV-Raptor, Allowing us to explore environments with extreme latitude in speed and dynamic range. We relied on two lenses throughout the project: the Kern Vario-Switar 12.5mm-100mm f/2 Multicoated Zoom and the Kern-Paillard 10mm Switar T1.6 paired with a 5mm Aspheron. This wide-angle setup proved invaluable for run-and-gun shooting, offering a broad field of view with minimal distortion. For the remainder of the shots on digital, we used Canon RF Glass. We’re especially grateful to @oldschoolcamz Oldschool Cameras, for their support with gear and film stock, making everything accessible and seamless for the production. RODEO || @welcome2rodeo Been dusting off some old projects from the past couple of years… This one is it own space is very close to me. When @tristan.feinberg approached me in the fall of 2024, he spoke about an event that was meant to build culture, not only for the professionals, but one for the kids. An event that invites everyone into transition riding... not just the ones who grew up in the sport. as someone who grew up in Philadelphia in smaller town, I didn't have much of place in in a space like this. But over the years, taz along with many others has shown me that you can be from anywhere and learn to love skiing. The event was not only about the community but art, expression, and a reminder to always be there for the people around you. There's something really special about what Taz did here and will continue to do with this event. i've never seen so many kids with smiles on their faces. HR.100 samples Vol 2 @garminfrance —————- A couple short cuts from my footage for the @hardrock100run . Shooting the hardrock was an expirence that I hadn't had before with shot timing and success rate. Finding ways to tell a story from so many different perspectives. Much love to @nicole.giampietro & the whole crew over at @podium.global , these guys were so fun to work with and was sick to see creative approach they all brought to the days shooting.
