✵ Artist Spotlight: èvia (DE) – Live Berlin-based artist èvia crafts post-ambient soundscapes that feel like catching light through rain, ephemeral, prismatic, and quietly immersive. Born in Aotearoa (New Zealand), their music builds from organic textures and synthetic shimmer, creating a sound that’s at once warm and crystalline. Their 2023 debut album cold, released on Lillerne, captured this duality: melodies that refract inward, intimate without being fragile. Since then, they’ve released eleventh hour (a collaboration as “wist” on STROOM) and launched the “sair” imprint, curating voices like more eaze, Metoronori, and Kaho Matsui. On Sunday’s closing concert, èvia brings luminous ambience to balance the darker, drone-driven territories explored by Jo Quail and Cape Wrath, a lighter counterpoint to close the festival. Friday, the 17th of January, sair returns! with a line-up of live performances @kwia.berlin Hosting experimental pop artist Metoronori from Japan, for her debut eu performance, as well as ambient, noise, pop artist Ryong, visiting from Copenhagen, and Leipzig based sound artist, songwriter, and composer tibslc. Metoronori creates music using poems, songs, room and city sounds, and synthesizers. Based in Tokyo and Chiba, Japan. In addition to self-releases, her music has been released on Orange Milk, Virgin Babylon, Glossy Mistakes, and others. Ryong is the solo project of Isa Nam Sook. Across her releases Ryong draws on both ambient, noise and art music, sometimes incorporating the sounds of classical instruments and spoken word. Her music explores Danish and Korean heritage, spirituality, embodiment, family and love, her music has been released on Yegorka and Posh Isolation. Leipzig based tibslc sculpts hazily ambiguous but meticulously detailed sounds hypersensitive to nanoscopic movements, she blends subtle environmental recordings, processed digital noise, guitar riffs and feedback with her voice, she has released music via Sferic, Soundsupply_Service, STROOM.tv, kiiberborea and Cime.
