Our dear friend 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐧 is a savant of banged-up machines and hand-me-down computers. Meticulously gathering overworked wires and crossed synapses to express semi-coherent sentiments as fractal memories. Their music is so fearlessly ‘non genre’ that every set is a mystery, equally terrifying and immersive as it is brimming with delicate hope. Bensin played live at an early goblin rave and people lost their minds (evident in footage). Fka @____quell , Bensin’s lastest release ‘𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐞’ on @secretworldrecords introduced us to a new club focused sound, a perfect mix of euphoria, found sounds, noise, industrial bangers, and 140+ jungle. On top of being sound whizz at misc and holding down the fort at un:send this year, Bensin is always pushing the envelope on what is possible for performance - look for them high up in club on Saturday 👀

Scorched Axis returns for its first show of 2026 with a late-night convergence at The Grace Darling, cutting between experimental pop, breakbeat, and hypnotic sound after dark. Sarah Buckley (𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯) presents 𝑪𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆 𝑶 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒍, a project originally formed with r hunter, reworked for a special collaborative set with 𝑻𝒐𝒗𝒆. The project moves through ambient pop and experimental electronic forms, shaped across long studio nights. 𝑰𝒌𝒆𝒅𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒑 is the new project from Bensin Thomas (𝘘𝘶𝘦𝘭𝘭) and Ju Shung (𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘋𝘰𝘨𝘴/𝘞𝘦𝘵 𝘒𝘪𝘴𝘴). After a standout Make It Up Club performance, the collision of banged-up machines and Ju’s searing guitar locked into something that couldn’t be left there.  Joined by creative studio 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒔 - the abstract, slambient collaboration of SOLSA, Eek & Thick Owens - and two very special 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒔 (TBA) passing through, appearing in different forms… ——

🚨NEW RELEASE🚨 Mechanomie was wrung from banged-up machines and hand-me-down computers that over two years became more and more dysfunctional and antisocial, mirroring the increasingly entropic mood of the times. The sounds are moments where overworked wires and synapses crossed to express semi-coherent sentiments. To me they now carry a lot of memories, and it’s exciting that they might acquire new meanings now they’re out in the world. The beautiful cover art was made by my other, more sentient brain @cl0ud_nein whose voice is peppered throughout the record 🖤 Enormous gratitude to @marararararararararara , @rhunterrrr , @5rings1dream , @borntojestforcedtojoust , @kushgram6969 , @ilovedurian_123 and @r41nb0w.l1br4ry , and all who joined us at @rest_in_spit to make the release party so special on Saturday. Tomorrow the library cart makes the journey out west, for its Footscray debut! Bensin has invited us to sling books at their ‘Mechanomie’ Ep launch at SPIT tomorrow night, facilitated by the elusive SecretWorld… a bit scared of the line change in the city, but it’s been done before. Gotta mod the trolley for some serious offroading. The gig kicks off from 9pm and finishes at 3am; unfortunately I’ll be at work from 6pm-2am, but there will be a secret guest custodian in my stead. I’ll head over as soon as I finish work. I’m also thinking of coming over earlier in the day and just posting up in Maddern Reserve with a Viet coffee and endless cigs for a few hrs before I have to go to work… let me know if you’re interested I guess?
