10 years of online coaching in the fitness industry. I’ve learnt some things along the way..
1️⃣ Everyone does. Don’t live in fear of making a mistake. No coach is perfect. You may make a program error, a wrong business decision or invest capital in the wrong areas. It happens. Learn from that mistake if you do fuck up
2️⃣ You don’t know everything. Even the most qualified, more experienced coaches can never shut the door to more learning.
3️⃣ I cannot stress this enough. Build systems. Find efficiency. Just because you have a flexible work pattern doesn’t mean that 9-5 life can’t be worked into it. Put. The. Phone. Down.
4️⃣ You don’t know everything x2. The best coaches are the ones who don’t pretend they are an oracle of knowledge.
5️⃣ Run your own race. Take inspiration but don’t be a 🐑
6️⃣ Consistency is 🔑 Do not give up because you’re lacking applications, content isn’t getting likes and no followers. Persist with it.
7️⃣ In business risk is everything. Being self-employed is the first risk. Want to be successful? Sometimes a leap of faith is all it takes. Comfort can be a demon in disguise.
8️⃣ Don’t be a hermit. Network. Talk. Discuss. Find mentors and learn. When I understood this properly, I felt like it opened a whole new level to coaching.
9️⃣ Why are you doing this? Identify what makes you tick. What drives your ambition, where does that passion come from? We all have our own reasons but if your heart isn’t it that shows in your product.
🔟 Trust me. 24 hour replies will be the death of you. The best coaches aren’t glued to their phones 24/7. Autonomy in an athletes training can teach them things even their coaches can’t.
A few lessons along the way, here’s to another 10 🍻
