3C-REN's Guest Speaker Series supports the GTECH Career Academy throughout the year by bringing in expert instructors from @inbalancegreen for presentations on green building practices.
This end-of-the year luncheon brought together professionals from across the green technology sector to talk with the students about career paths and job opportunities. It was great to see how far the students have come over the past 3-4 years in the program.

What is a heat pump? 🤔
A heat pump is an all-electric system that moves heat instead of creating it.
Heating and Cooling: Heat pump HVAC pulls heat from the outside air to warm your space in the winter, and the reverse happens in the summer to keep your space cool.
Water Heating: Pulls heat from the air to warm your water.
Heat pumps are more efficient than electric resistance heating because it moves heat instead of creating it. Electric resistance heating converts electricity into heat, 1 unit of electricity = ~ 1 unit of heat. Heat pump transfers heat and since its moving existing heat rather than generating it, 1 unit of electricity used = ~2-4 units of heat (with proper installation & maintenance).
Why this matters:
Lower energy use = lower utility bills!
Lower emissions = clean air!
