El museo como sistema vivo - MAC Pánama

El proyecto presenta un museo como un sistema vivo e interdependiente, no como un objeto aislado, sino como un espacio que fomenta relaciones entre arte, ciudad y naturaleza. Se propone un edificio “horadado por el trópico”, donde clima, humedad, vegetación y organismos interactúan constantemente con la estructura, disolviendo la división entre interior y exterior. El museo deja de ser un simple contenedor para convertirse en un facilitador de prácticas artísticas y sociales, donde los ciudadanos pueden crear arte; el espacio público es parte integral del museo, y este, del entramado urbano.
El MAC se redefine como un sistema de relaciones, siguiendo a Nicolas Bourriaud, “el arte es un estado de encuentro” (Esthétique relationnelle, 1998). Las salas, en franjas, forman una estructura flexible que permite a artistas y curadores crear espacios variables. Dentro de estas cajas blancas, surgen espacios tropicales (terrazas, patios, miradores y anfiteatros) que irrumpen y transforman la experiencia, fundiendo el bioma panameño con la creación artística y haciendo del museo un campo dinámico de interacciones entre públicos, naturalezas y prácticas.

The museum as a living system
The project envisions a museum as a dynamic, interconnected system fostering relationships among art, the city, and nature. It proposes a ‘perforated’ building where climate, vegetation, and organisms interact, dissolving interior-exterior boundaries. The museum becomes a space for artistic and social practices, blending public space with the city.
The MAC is redefined as a system for fostering relationships, following Nicolas Bourriaud’s idea that ‘art is a state of encounter’ (Esthétique relationnelle, 1998). Galleries are arranged in flexible bands, creating adaptable spaces for artists and curators. Patios, viewpoints, and amphitheaters disrupt and influence the exhibition experiences. In these spaces, the Panamanian biome interacts directly with art, transforming the museum into a field of engagement between audiences, nature, and practices.
