Perfectly timed for giving thanks, we had the first ever PACKAGES screening at a private cast and crew hang in @hellohuman.us cozy and well-appointed NYC showroom (all pics by our cinematographer @mistagomes ). Not a “premiere” — festivals don’t send their Hogwarts letters until 2026, and u know we have to do something proper in the city where this was made — but as of last Sunday, PACKAGES is finally a real movie projected in a dark room that people have watched and enjoyed together. “Sampling bias” for sure, but I gotta admit… it played. And can now be added to your Letterboxd (link in bio). I feel like Charli!

I initially was not impressed with the 1200x, this was pre-firmware update. I was shooting 50 Cent, but I needed to light him moody from a distance and it wasn’t going as cool as it should, that’s all been sorted after update. My gaffer insisted on these units. . I think this is the perfect owner/op light. You can stuff it in a 600 case. It travels easy. And I see at least 2 on every shoot in NY. . I’ve always seen it paired with the spotlight max, which is big, but it does what it’s supposed to do, well. . But since it’s fashion season I’ve seen it with a dome on 4 consecutive shoots. They punted the joker curve to the side for the 1200x combo. . I just found out yesterday if you put it in XY mode you can get full color control. Do not mistake it for a CCT + RGB workflow. But in the hands of a DMXpert. The sky is the limit. . Off screen @resoundingbone . . One of our favorite commercial shoots this year. Half day on an actual barge on the Hudson River and half day in @beelectricstudio . It was quite a large task getting the request to film on a barge when this kind of thing is almost never done in NYC. But we snapped into action and worked hard to organize all aspects. For this PSA being all close up I chose to use the ARRI ALEXA65 camera so to enjoy all the benefits of the added resolution and medium format depth of field it provides, paired with the DNA 120mm and the 110mm for their natural soft rendition of the skin, and I was in love with the image it yielded.
