Zootee Studios has added the DJI Ronin 4D 6K and 8K to our rental inventory! They are powerful, fully integrated cinema systems designed for fast-moving productions - which let’s be real - they pretty much all are now. Built around the full-frame Zenmuse X9 sensor with 14+ stops of dynamic range, 4-axis in-body stabilization, and LiDAR autofocus, the Ronin 4D excels in handheld, vehicle, and tight-location shooting while maintaining true cinematic image quality. You all saw Adolescence- you know the drill. The system integrates seamlessly with the DJI Wireless High-Bright Monitors, enabling low-latency monitoring over long distances, camera control, mimic mode, and integrates with DJI’s wireless follow focus hand unit, making your focus puller’s life that little bit easier. It’s ideal for compact crews and efficient on-set workflows without sacrificing precision. #ZooteeStudios #DJIRonin4D #Ronin4D6K #Ronin4D8K #DPlife #FocusPuller #Cinematographer #DirectorOfPhotography #WirelessFocus #CameraControl #OnSetWorkflow #CapeTownDP #CapeTownFilm #CameraRental #SouthAfricaFilm #CinemaCamera #CinematographyGear

Every year I say I need to do an appreciation post for women’s day about the incredible women that have built Zootee’s technical department in to what it is today; and every year I get overwhelmed and don’t do it in time but I finally have! I will do this chronologically as to not play favourites! @fahemahendricks @jamie.w52643 @samdavies_wildlife @chelsey_sparks @alison_scorgie @meganhorne.workmode @pascaleschoeman @hannconstantine @mari.sharp @meganpearce_11

People often ask us if it’s a good idea to buy a Sony FX6, FX3 or even a7S III in 2025 or if they should “wait for a mark II” and the short answer is - *no just buy it now*. Today we bought another FX6 because no matter how many we buy, we need more. Even if Sony releases a mark II in early 2026, we would have made our money back by then and so would you. Here’s the hidden value that some might not realise: that sensor will continue to be used on multicam shoots for at least a year after a mark II is released because owner operators always want a B-cam to match *their* A-cam that they have put on the job to make some extra money. And 9 times out of 10 - that camera is a Sony a7S III/ FX3 or FX6 (same sensor, slight tweaking in the grade to match). So if that sensor is what the DPs put on the job already, you are more likely as a B-cam operator to get hired for the job with a bundle rate on your gear if it matches what the DP has put on. It’s going to take a while before aaall those owner operator DPs save enough money to upgrade to whatever Burano specs trickle down into an FX9 II or FX6 II and it’s entirely possible that they wont upgrade because the image is still so good that it might not warrant the extra expense on their pocket or data added to the post pipeline for production. So no, we don’t sell Sony’s, we’re a rental house and will make less money if y’all buy your own Sony’s but we will always give our honest advice and this question has come up a lot recently so we just thought we should share our insight. #fx6 @sonymea @eslie.basson @raveburger @ormsdirect

We have another “vintage” lens for you to peruse! The “Daguerrotype Achromat by Chevalier, Paris 1839” is inspired by the pioneering optical designs that shaped early photography. It’s based on the classic achromatic lenses developed in the 19th century, specifically drawing from the original Cooke triplet and the work of early optical pioneers like Charles Chevalier. These lenses revolutionised image clarity and fidelity in the early days of photography (the days when they were still using lavender oils and mercury vapour to help fix plates!). The Daguerrotype Achromat will take you and your a7S III back 180 years to blend vintage craftsmanship with modern sensors. Perfect for filmmakers and photographers looking for a unique, character-rich lens to tell your story. #camerarental #CameraEquipment #FilmGear #cinematography #Filmmaking #MovieGear #CameraTech #CameraAccessories #VintageLens #UniqueLens #OpticalArt #VintageCamera #HistoricLens #FilmPhotography #AnalogVibes #FilmmakerLife #ZooteeStudios #VintageLens #DaguerrotypeAchromat #Chevalier #Paris1839 #FilmHistory #CameraRentals #CinematicGear #OpticalLegacy #EarlyPhotography

The Nour Triplet V2.0 64mm Bokeh control art lens is based on two brilliant designs. The “Nour” in the name is the Arabic word for “light” or “radiance” as the lens pays homage to Hasan lbn al-Haytham, known as “the father of modern optics” who was a genius during the Islamic golden age - his life spanned roughly between 965-1040. He was a scientist, physicist, mathematician and astronomer from what is now Iraq and we owe much of our industry to his discoveries. Newton, Galileo and Kepler all later referenced his work. His wikipedia page is worth a look at! The “triplet” part of the name is from the “Cooke Triplet” design which was the first lens that controlled distortions by adding a 3rd bi-concave lens as a third group to two convex lens groups in 1893. So essentially this lens is about leaning into distortions and aberrations on either end of the spectrum with the ability to dial between 3 different looks as a storytelling tool: – Over-correct spherical aberrations for a beautiful bubble bokeh – Correct spherical aberrations for sharpness – Under-correct aberrations for a dreamy softness The aperture mechanism is interesting – you slot in precut gobo type apertures. They come in f/2.0, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16 #vintagelens #nourtripletartlens #nourtriplet

This New Petzval 55mm f/1.7 MKII lens is based on Joseph Petval’s 1840s lens, which was revolutionary at the time – like proper revolutionary, not how we use that word so glibly now – the look has experienced a resurgence in popularity after “Poor Things”. The swirly bokeh and soft edges make it completely unique. It is just so tasty and you can dial in your “tastiness” from 1 to 7. It is in e-mount #sonyforlife #petzval #Petzval55 #vintagelenses #cinematography
