In March 2022, Christie and Steve Pelley—a married couple from Silicon Valley—reached out to interior designer @zoefeldmandesign after falling in love with her work over Instagram and asked her to design their newly acquired Federal-style townhouse in Georgetown. At the the very start of the collaboration, Christie explained that she wanted the five-story residence to be livable and unfussy—a true family home. “She immediately told me she didn’t want a formal dining or living room,” says Feldman. Tap the link in our bio to see how this historic D.C. townhouse got a family-friendly upgrade. Story by @geoffmontes Photos by @stacyzaringoldberg

To paraphrase @xtina : When will my reflection show...layered textures that create both depth and a sense of calm, with movement from limewashed walls, nuanced marble, and curved edges? ...or something like that. 📸 @stacyzaringoldberg

On the latest episode of Ask Us Anything—an extension of Trade Tales—Washington, D.C.–based Zoë Feldman weighs in on how to hire for aesthetic alignment, the metrics she uses to measure an employee’s progress at the firm, and how a team member with their own style can sometimes save the firm from adopting a formulaic look. 🖼️: A collection of projects by @zoefeldmandesign 📸: @michaelcliffordphotography , @nicole_franzen and @stacyzaringoldberg

Feeling honored to be included in the #1stDibs50 again 🤍 Thank you @1stdibs for celebrating the designers who believe, like I do, that vintage and artisan pieces bring a little more soul to the spaces we create, and put a little less strain on our planet. See the full list at the link in bio!

One of Georgetown’s most celebrated interior design firms @zoefeldmandesign has been crafting soulful, sophisticated spaces across Washington, DC and New York City for over 20 years, with a team of 30 incredibly talented women and an office right here on Wisconsin Avenue. They were a proud sponsor of this year’s Chocolate Tour — thank you, Zoë Feldman Design, for supporting the neighborhood. Georgetown wouldn’t be the same without you! 🤎 Visit their website and profile to see some of their stunning work for yourself! #GeorgetownDC #GeorgetownMainStreet

Happy Mother’s Day to the person who taught me how to be a great mom and also the one who raised the bar so high, I sometimes wonder if I should just pass the baton back to her. This year has been rough, mama, but we’re going to get through it together. I love you beyond measure. But you already know that. X

For those following the renovation journey of Kemble Cottage, thank you for coming along, and sorry about the whiplash. I can’t help myself! With construction officially underway, today’s Sidenote walks through the latest changes at the house, including a reworked kitchen, a pantry door with a porthole, and my plan for a super scary root cellar (plus an invitation to Ask Me Anything!). Subscribe to read at the link in bio 🙃 #renovation #interiordesign #historichome

I love a galley kitchen for its functionality and its ability to show layers of materials working together in one vista. My former home stayed neutral on the walls and cabinets, while I installed an Escher-inspired marble tile on the floors and a vibrant marigold powder room to punctuate it at the far end. 📸 @michaelcliffordphotography
