Work should have somewhere beautiful to land. It was such a treat to design this studio for writer and director Lauren Morelli, my longtime client and an all-around lovely human. Part library, part living room, part workspace, it is a place to gather ideas, stretch out, and stay awhile. I shaped the room around comfort, color, and the kind of warmth that keeps creativity moving. Shelves lined with stories, generous seating for long conversations, and layers of texture that make a working day feel a little richer. Spaces devoted to productivity are often asked to do only one thing. I wanted this one to do more—welcome collaborators, hold focus, spark ideas, and feel deeply personal to the woman using it each day. When we first came onto this project, the house initially felt very dark. Our goal was to introduce a softer, more feminine touch while keeping the space light and cheerful. We chose this muted blue and warm creamy yellow wallpaper to brighten the room which pairs perfectly with the reclaimed French wood floors! #polosangelesreno

My sister and I were born in SF, my mom and her sisters grew up in SF, my Dad hitchhiked across the country to SF! It’s incredibly meaningful when a project like this connects with you all beyond the walls it was created within. Being featured in @archdigest is an honor every time- but especially with a home this personal. This mid-century home was never about a singular statement. It was about feeling- warmth, texture, a sense of calm that unfolds slowly. We wanted it to feel lived-in from the start, as if it had always belonged to the people inside it. Wood paneling wraps the main living spaces, grounding everything in warmth. Plaster walls catch the light in soft, shifting ways.
