Join us this Thursday, 9 April 2026, for a special evening with Alexandra Baraitser as part of 'Line of Beauty' at The Exhibitionist Hotel.
Alexandra will be in conversation with artist and curator Clio Lloyd-Jacob, offering insight into her practice, influences and the ideas behind her gorgeous work.
Based between Cambridge and London, Baraitser is known for her vivid paintings of everyday interiors and architectural forms, works that transform chairs, lamps, stations, offices and domestic spaces into colourful, psychologically charged compositions balanced between observation and abstraction.
Drinks from 6pm
Talk at 7pm
The Exhibitionist Hotel, 8-10 Queensberry Place, London SW7 2EA

The Future Starts Here (2019) @AlexandraBaraitser
Oil on canvas, 147 × 124 cm
Alexandra Baraitser’s 'The Future Starts Here' (2019) looks to Westfriedhof Station in Munich, a cave-like U-Bahn space where light becomes architecture and colour behaves like a living thing.
“It would be a dream to visit this train station… I have looked at photos of it but not seen it with my own eyes.” says Alexandra
Designed by celebrated industrial designer Ingo Maurer (1932–2019), Westfriedhof glows in unusual hues, pulling the eye into reflections, planes, and a kind of cinematic depth. Baraitser’s painting leans into that sensation: light, colour, reflection, form and a perspective that quietly insists on motion, even in stillness.
See this work as part of 'Line of Beauty', the Young Masters People’s Choice Award Winners Exhibition, at The Exhibitionist Hotel in South Kensington.
